View Full Version : Air purifiers can be dangerous?!

It sure seems like Sharper Image, et.al., are really pushing these things, to the point where I'm getting tired of seeing the ads. They are on CNN a lot.

I have not paid much attention to the ads, as I have two HEPA air cleaners that do the job very efficiently.

They sure can be dangerous, you can build an ionizers that are safe and won't emit ozone but I guess they are too expensive.
Electrostatic air cleaners require some kind of regular maintenance to stop them from emitting ozone.
In the end HEPA filters are probably the best but they require maintenance also unless you want mold growth and smell from the filters.
