I wish that was case in Australia... I have never ever seen Randi on any of the TV chanels in Australia. I didn't even know of his existance until recently seen "P&T: Bullsh!t" (btw not shown on TV here as well). I'm glad I did! I was always a sceptic - but never realized how dip all the scams were.
Thanx to Rand and Penn & Teller

Yeah they're great. They are on hbo ($$cable) cable in the US. :(
But you can get the collection on DVD. My favorite so far is the 'bottled water' episode where they fill up various expensive (and fictitious) brands from the garden faucet out back.
At least one of Mr Randi's lectures is on the web. Quite enjoyable and you can listen while reading forum posts. :D

We don't see a lot of Randi in the UK either - so thanks for posting the link. I really enjoyed the lecture. Maybe we could have it posted in the links section permanently.

Got to see some of that lecture before the player problems occurred. Liked the whole "assumptions" bit at the beginning. Going to finish it now that I'm on my home comp.

Thank you for the link, but I think I've already downloaded that lecture from eMule.

Finished that Princeton lecture. Think I figured out a number of the magic tricks at the end, including the rope trick. In the unlikely event I get taken hostage by some guy with rope, I might be able to trick him into tying me into an escapable knot. Loved a number of other points he made. Did a good job of making homeopathy sound even more rediculous than I previously thought, and that's a real accomplishment. Also did a nice speech about the wonder in the universe and how woo-woos essentially betray that by manufacturing their own, false wonder.

Skepticism isn't interesting to most people, that's why you see very little of it on any medium (pun intended).

Does anyone has a link of Horizon show where they debunk Homeopathy.
I've been trying to find that with no success.
I've got the one where they debunk Bible Code (no Randi) and that was good!

Thanks, Kopji, for that terrific link. I am working on an essay about Islam and feminism, and was engaging in some essay-avoidance tactics which usuall means this forum :)
For example, last night I read the whole Karen Boesen thread that I had never come across before. This made me feel quite depressed and wondering why I was pursuing an academic degree when people like Boesen just make them up.
Then I found your link and thought I'd listen to a Randi lecture. But by serendipity, there in the list of lectures I spotted a lecture on feminism and Islam.
So, now I'm putting Randi's lecture on hold and going to get stuck in to my essay, my thoughts clarified by that Islam lecture thanks to you.
So, what was more important for me? Obviously, the link you supplied. But I did learn something from the Boesen thread. For I learned that I could work hard to get my degree, and then possibly be rejected by an employer on Boesen's bogus astrological say so -- I'm a Pisces, so part of the Astrology Fascist's undermenschen. :) I hadn't realised that being born at a certain time and date made me a social pariah for folks like Boesen.
It made me think "First they came for the Virgos, and I did nothing, for I was not a Virgo . . . etc"
Anyway, ta much for the link.

Err, that's "Showtime," not HBO. Still cable/satellite, though.

I like the "deleted scenes" from that episode, on the last disc. Especially where they put in some yellow food dye, call it "Piss de Chat" ("Cat Piss") and get people to drink it while comenting on the unique taste.
For those of you yet to see it, I'm serious!

Just re-watched Randi's lecture in Princeton...
remeber when Randi talks about chances of him guessing one of the cards in the envelope. One of the people in the audience tells him its 2 in 5 but Randi tells him it's 1 in 5.
Honestly it kind of confused me as well.
example:
there are 5 cards: red, green, blue, yellow, black
2 in the envelope: red and green
for me to guess the 1 of the cards in the envelope I can say either red or green to be right, which means I have 2 out of 5 chances.
am I right or am I totaly confused?

If you buy the season one DVD set, P&T have a pretty good interview with Randi.

There is a good John Stossel report with Randi called "The Power of Belief" available on eMule. I mentioned it here: http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55205
Also check out Randi's NOVA episode (haven't found it for DL), but you buy it here: http://www.randi.org/shopping/index.html#video
