That'll only happen when stupidity becomes old hat - it's been fashionable for the last 10,000 years, I see no reason why it should go out of vogue anytime soon.

The opening bid was $3.29 to replace the bag of Doritos the seller just ate. He sure made a huge profit.

Golden Palace also bought the grilled cheese Jesus (or was it Mary?) sandwich.

Golden Palace has been the buyer in most of these auctions. I wonder what they're doing with these things.

Yea. Am I the only one to whom this looks just really crass? Take all the stupid people's money at casinos, then buy their idols with the money you hoodwinked to hang on your wall?
I'm all for laughing at these images of Jesus and other sillyness, but why not just set a big pile of money on fire instead? At least that might keep someone warm.

It was Mary. And they also bought a womans name... she had put her name up on Ebay for sale. They bought it, and she had her name changed to "Goldenpalace.com".
Some pundit or other suggested that her friends now call her "Goldie". ;)

Didn't they also buy a woman's pregnant stomach as advertising space?

getting lots of publicity in return! Buying that sandwich was a lot cheaper than a national tv spot.

It's becoming really tempting for me to do one of these things. Unfortunately, I've got one of those annoying things known as a "conscience" that won't let me exploit the gullibility of others. But if someone actually buys a curled dorito because it looks like a miter, they might actually deserve what they get.

Considering this (http://www.goldenpalaceevents.com/auctions/art01.php) you shouldn't feel bad.

Oh. My. God.
Goldenpalace have waaay too much money to burn:
Some of the things they have spent money on (http://www.goldenpalaceevents.com/auctions/)
Check out the first one:
APRIL 11, 2005, NORFOLK, VA -- Three is a lucky number for mother-to-be Natasha, as Internet casino GoldenPalace.com scored a hat trick by purchasing the right to name her soon-to-be-born triplets due in August. One of the babies will be called ‘GoldenPalace.com’.
Check out this page (http://www.goldenpalaceevents.com/auctions/triplets01.php) to see the delighfully responsible mother who has blighted her children's lives in order to make a few bucks.
If any of you, or your children, or friends are ever tempted to gamble, remember that casinos make so much money from gamblers that they can afford to buy things like those on the list above.
Then take your money and buy yourself something nice instead, or put it straight back in your pocket.

One thing I think I might do: Get a Dorito of my own, look for "extra-terrestrial messages" in the black spots, and draw some faint crop circly-formations with the burn tool in Adobe Photoshop.
If I make money from handing out that small piece of woo, I'll donate a portion to the JREF. And probably take a long, long shower.
