Did anyone catch NBC's program tonight (Wednesday), Dealing With the Devil" on Dateline?
What a crock! I've seen better acting in a McDonald's commercial.
They also featured people in the southern U.S. who handle snakes as part of their religious (fundie Christian) ceremonies.
I wonder why this type of programming has taken hold? I don't normally watch NBC (or any of the other big networks), but someone called to tell me about it knowing that I would enjoy the laugh. What troubles me is the fact that this seems to me very similar to the "war on terrorism." Keep them scared and they'll do whatever you say is necessary.
Perhaps we (the members of JREF) could start our own "inexplicable" phenomena by picking a date and time to simultaneously mimic, say for instance, the possessed child in "The Exorcist." Imagine the religious outcry that would cause. They would be certain that the end was near.
