View Full Version : Familiar Argument?

I was at a friendly, smallish-sized social gathering a good while back with my family and a few friends, and everyone was eating food at the dinner table. Anyways, somehow (don't ask me) the conversation turns to superhero characters, and before i know it, somebody asks if Spiderman could beat Superman.

For a split second, i freeze. Superman has the whole invincibility thing. There's no way to come out of this with spidey on top, and he's my fav. So instead, I proclaim "You idiot! Superman isn't real!" I said this with great fervor and zeal, as though I'd been personally affronted. The unspoken assumption being, of course, Spiderman is real.

It did get a very good laugh from everybody. And it does remind me of a few arguments I've heard hereabouts... :D

Which version of Superman?

I saw a Marvel-hero chart that has Spidey second only to the Hulk in strength.

I don't like DC... and Superman, ugh. Invincible boyscout.

Spidey rules: a scientist and a superhero.

None of the other superheroes could defeat Superman. He was created as pretty much invincible.

Kind of like arguing that Moses could kick god's butt. That's not the way the characters are written.

Aw, this is the kind of dorky conversation my friends and I had before we discovered girls.

Now here's a REAL competition : Jesus v.s. Ghandi, no holds barred, steel-cage match.

2 god-men enter, 1 god-man leaves!

pay-per-view event of the millenium (well, last millenium anyway)
