NBC just reported that the US bombed a residence in Baghdad that intelligence indicated housed a meeting of Saddam and his sons. The intelligence was said to be very reliable, let's hope they finally got this despot.
Here's a link to the story. (http://www.nbc5.com/news/2094155/detail.html)

Edited to add link.

"Saddam & Sons" sounds like some insurance agency to me :D

I hope they're finished, but I won't jump to any conclusions until it's confirmed.

So, technically speaking...

How does this "leadership strike" differ from the "decapitation strike" that was attempted earlier?

Looks like hes nothing but a smoking hole in the ground now. He won't be missed.

I would think one needs a body to be decapitated. Saddams body (army) has been wiped out.

Saddam and Son - wasn't that the 70s sitcom about the old man who worked at the junkyard?

Any good writer will tell you not to use the same metaphor over & over. :D
Here's a better link to the bombing story. (http://www.msnbc.com/news/870749.asp?0cv=CA01)

It would make for a good remake:

Saddam (in Redd Foxx voice): "Uday, you've been in that rape room all day. Why don't you go take the cattle prod to those soccer players of yours?"

Uday: "Aw, c'mon pop, rape is more fun than coaching".

Edited to correct the spelling of the late great Redd Foxx's name

Saddam (in Redd Foxx voice, with hand on chest): It's the big one!

Uday: Hey, Pop, we gotta get out of here!

Saddam (in Redd Foxx voice): I ain't leavin' without my collection of super-size d*ldoes!

Uday: Are you nuts? You can't carry all of them!

Saddam: I ain't goin' nowhere without my "Weapons of @$$ Destruction!"

Okay, Brown, that right there is hilarious!

[apologist mode] But... neither you nor I know the real Saddam. The sensitive Saddam, who loves puppies and pretty roses and can actually dance en pointe. He's probably not the monster that our propaganda makes him out to be, just a misunderstood genius. We spend so much time villifying this man, when we could be reaching out to his deep, pensive, emotive self. I submit that we owe him a big sloppy kiss and a pat on the back. Shame on us. Shame on us all. [/apologist mode]

Saddam (in Redd Foxx voice): If you tell me you ain't never said the word 'sh*t' in your life, then come over to my house while it's being bombed by the Americans. You'll say 'sh*t,' 'f*ck' and 'G*dd*mn!!'

You are only worry for Saddam....the ex-partner of USA.

Saddam (in Redd Foxx voice): Every time I do trick shots with my pistol, my favorite wife says, 'You make it look too easy. Make it look hard.' So that's what I try to do: make it look hard for the wife.

I was watching Fox last night and one of the women corrospondents was telling the nation how the US got it's information. I could not believe how stupid this woman was. If Saddam isn't dead he now knows how we are tracking him. Brilliant Fox! I assume that they got chastised because I haven't heard the information since, but I imagine that Saddam has people monitoring American news knowing that some stupid reporter is going to report something they shouldn't in their thirst to be first. Did anyone else catch this last night?

Denise, it is well known that Saddam watched CNN religiously during the Gulf War. Of course, we know that Bush does NOT get any of his news from the TV (Ari Fleischer told us so) but it's possible that somebody in the US administration does? (Sarcastic) I think BOTH sides are using the media for their own purposes to a very great extent.

Frankly, I'm sick of ALL the media. 90% of the things they report are unconfirmed and they repeat the same things over & over & over. That's the price the public pays for having access 24/7. UGH.

And if they don't wipe those smiles off their faces..... I swear I'm going to blow a fuse. (Check out Lester Holt on MSNBC.... he's going to be my first victim. haha) I've had the news off since early this morning...... I reached overload last night.

Did anyone catch Bush this morning? He & Blair were answering questions and Bush actually said (paraphrased), 'The Iraqis are afraid to help overthrow the govt because they were betrayed after the Gulf War.' Not that they were NOT betrayed in 1991 but I bet his daddy wasn't happy to hear him put it quite that bluntly. DUH.

I witnessed this as well. It was all about some voice transmission encryption system, "Jaguar," that the British sold to them in the 80's, and have since developed the technology to decrypt.

If they really had this super-secret way of spying on them, and had it blown by Fox News, then that's f*cked up. I haven't heard word boo about it in the media today. I don't remember if it was Rita Crosby that blew it, but she was chirping on and on about her "intelligence sources." All of Fox News needs an intelligence source - a source of minimal intelligence about what is militarily sensitive information. And how about what "we report, you decide" means, while they're at it.

Back in late 2001, they were tracking bin Laden by his satellite phone until news orgs let it slip. Then bin Laden stopped using it. I thought GWB was going to plug all the leaks. Bad plumber.

No sign of Saddam, but a hell of a lot of pain and suffering. Nice job "liberating" the Iraqi people. MSNBC spent the whole night bragging about how they were first to get this great story. It's all enough to make me want to puke every night before going to bed.

Yep, that's exactly what I was referring to. Then a little bit later on the anchorman was interviewing someone and his mic was still on and I heard him say "Don't let that go to the screenwriter."

It is not much of a secret that Jr. and Sr. don't see eye to eye on a lot of issues. Dad was an ambassador and head of the CIA. Dubya's idea of diplomacy is this.

You and I are on the same wavelength on this one, Mel. I watched Holt for the first time last night. He's awful..and so smug.

Yet you could sleep quite well while Saddam tortured and put to death people by the thousands. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/2930739.stm)
Saddam Hussein controlled Iraq through fear, torture and execution. It happened here to tens of thousands of Iraqis deemed dangerous by the secret police.
This does not sadden you? Or maybe it's just "out of sight, out of mind".
Fewer innocent Iraqis will die in this war than if we had left Saddam to his own devices. The math is cruel, but relevant.

Nice Job??

Thousands of people were "liberated"......they are dead now.
Now they are free.

Also, thousands of children are "liberated" of their parents....now there is nobody to tell them: "Come on do your school homeworks".
