He was going from Marine to Marine giving interviews, apparently with no worry of being shot.

The tanks have met up in the center of Baghdad, and this dude is running around with a mic and a camera crew interviewing soldiers who are taking postions. Sorry, but he's a little nutty.

Yeah Chater's a nut............seen him do it before! LOL
As Jon said its his stiff upper lip and British Phlegm that sees him through.
That and his pre-dyed underpants and bullet proof vest!

David just went up to a marine with binoculars David says " Looks like he's looking for snipers lets' see if he has a moment." David goes up to soldier " Have a moment, can you tell us if you are looking for snipers - you're live on Sky News." This is hilarious!

Sign in the middle of Baghdad held by two Iraqi's
"Go home human shields you US wankers."
How long before that big statue comes down? Any bets? I bet 20 more minutes.
I don't know if this is the same reporter since I did not see the broadcast you are talking about, but there was a Sky News reporter a couple weeks ago broadcasting live during a fire fight in Umm Qasr, pulling Marines to the side occasionally to give their commentary as the battle was happening. It was truly bizarre. It reminded me of the TV series in the 70s called You Are There. Anyone ever see that show?
They would have reenactments of famous American moments and their reporters would pull aside John Hancock, say, as he was about to sign the Declaration of Independence, and ask him for some remarks.
Strange to see it for real, huh?

Sky News is owned by Rupert Murdoch, that should explain a lot ;). Out of the news stations we've got here Sky's the most gung ho: "Let's look at a US tank blow something up. Let's watch it again in slow motion. Now here's a big jet being filled with lovely bombs to drop on Saddam..."
I say Chater should go for it; let Darwinian forces do their work...

Darn it. I NEVER seem to watch the "right" channel at the right time. It sure does sound hilarious. LOL

Sky news wins all the awards here for the best news programme. I can't understand why you are all poking fun at david chater. It was perfectly safe at that point for him to speak to USA soldiers. A couple of hours earlier he had to run for it as Syrian ***** were shooting and only metres from the hotel he's been at for past three weeks. he didn't say he was from Fox TV he said Sky at that moment were linked up to Fox (get your facts right) he was rather excited to speak freely and to move freely, which he hasn't been able to do over the past weeks. He gave some soldiers a unique opportunity to speak to their loved ones over the air which must have been brilliant for them. A nice bit of charm, I thought at the 'end' of a nasty invation

It was not perfectly safe, they just had some sniper fire.

He looks like the late, great Dudley Moore.
Max, I think Denise was just commenting because it seemed like a surreal moment in time.
It's good to be able to find light hearted things to discuss after all the tragic and terrible things these past weeks.

Well, I never said that he said he was from Fox. When I paraphrased him I pointed out that he was from Sky News. As I pointed out in the title of this thread.
