NHS spares 'vital' homeopathy hospital

CHRIS MCAULEY

BRITAIN’S only homeopathic hospital to offer round-the-clock treatment has been spared from swingeing NHS cutbacks which would have condemned the unit’s overnight ward to closure.

The decision to save overnight-bed facilities at the Glasgow Homeopathic Hospital was taken at a meeting of the Greater Glasgow NHS Board yesterday, and follows relentless campaigning by users of the service, which combines alternative medicine and counselling with conventional healthcare.

I wonder if the beds are even used to their potential - 350 cases per yr works out at 23 patients per bed per year, or every patient staying in for 15 days on average. This is highly inefficient by any standard.

Would these beds not be better used as medical beds? I work in an acute hospital admitting 16000 medical patients per year, squeezed into around 300 beds. An extra 15 medical beds would be wonderful.

What exactly would a homeopathic hospital do?

Very, very little.

(And nanosurgery).

Wait for one person to get better.
Then gather up as many sick people in the room as possible with the one healthy person.
Give the room a good shake.
BAM! All cured!

In fact they don't need the healthy person.
Just a room where a healthy person has been in. The room remembers the health.
