In a murder investigation in Idaho:

Passing a lie detctor makes him innocent? Unfortunately, the stort does not say how weighted the lie detector information is. Seven hours of interview, according to the report, and they come down to the Lie Detector(LD)? Or did he have an alibi?

*sigh* Another stroke for pseudoscience.

Sigh. I've seen studies where lie detector tests offer results no better than chance. But Canada is introducing the lie detector test in November to screen new recruits for the RCMP. You won't get to be a Mountie unless you pass the test.

I'm wondering if the techology is better nowadays? How would it have been improved?

They must have buried the whole Gary Ridegway affair in the backs of their minds. He only killed what, forty something people before he passed a lie detector test.

The mainstream media here in the US loves the lie detector test test. If a suspect doesn't take the test he/she has something to hide, so they're guilty in the eyes of the public (aka the suspect's soon to be jury).
