Dangerous leftist militants, taking refuge at the leftist bastion of Baghdad University, engaged US troops and thus forced them to bring 'a million Mogadishus' to the campus. A-10 aircraft also engage the dangerous leftists and it is being reported that many buildings of the leftist university are on fire and are burning out of control.

JK, just curious why you describe Baghdad University as leftist (although everything's relative). I understand that since the first Gulf War, the campus has witnessed a distinctly conservative trend - and who knows how conservative it used to be before that. What's your source of information - and, indeed, your thesis here?

He portrays all that is "bad" in this world as leftist. It's all part of the leftist conspiracy..

I'm not quite convinced that even he believes what he posts.

I just thought it was ironic how many troops were at the Baghdad University firing on US troops while their countrymen were cheering in the streets for their new freedom.

It mirrors what happens on leftist universities in the United States, although I cannot confirm if the leftists on American universities are as highly armed as their peers in Baghdad University (well, not anymore).

Plus, you have to love the title of this thread--'A Million Mogadishus'. That is what the Columbia University Professor (the guy now in hiding lol) wanted to happen to US troops, and I also felt it extremely ironic that US troops would be taking in tanks, infantry, missiles and aircraft into the battle in Baghdad University lol.

Ahem, I thought it was agile thought with a little humor. :D

I always thought it was a particularly ironic idea, "A Million Mogadishus," since if there were such a thing, then 18,000,000 American soldiers would die, while killing a fifth of the world's population. That's the equivalent of New York state wiping out China. Even with limited air support, severed supply lines, urban fighting, and a hostile populace, Mogadishu was the single greatest battle victory in the history of the world.

At TAM, Hal gave a great chatauqua in the character of Alexander Hamilton. He recounted (as Hamilton) that Princeton University had rejected his application, then later during the Revolutionary war the British had holed up in a building on the Princeton campus. He was then an officer in charge of an artillery unit near the site and had the satisfaction of ordering the University that rejected him shelled. :)

Almost as satisfying as visiting a "million Mogadishus" on Baghdad eh? ;)
