You may have seen this controversial video, where some evil people made a lion fight a tiger in a cage. It's disputed, but the tiger won. The video is probably down right now, though.
Anyway, this calls to mind the question of the fabled Liger. Could you actually mate a lion and a tiger? I say this because different types of horse can be mated, like a Zebra and a Donkey, creating Zebra-hybrid animals.
Could you do the same for giant cats? Or is their DNA not similar enough?

Okay, moving on. Plants. Everyone agrees that they're alive. But are they self-aware? They don't have brains, so how could they be?
To me, they seem more like organic machines. Consciousness isn't really a requirement to survive natural selection.
