Wouldn't you like to see a booth at your local state or county fair this summer at which for a buck you can take a baseball bat and knock the (empty) head off of dummies that represent John Edward, James Van Praagh, Richard Hoaglund, a homeopathic practitioner, a school board member who voted for intelligent design, and your least favorite person from the forum?
I propose "Whack-A-Quack (tm)" booths all over the country to "Whack the crap out of ignorance and fraud (tm)". All profits go to promoting education. That is, any profits left after buying beer and having a go at the Sylvia Browne dummy.
Happy whacking!

Y'know...that has some serious potential...a booth with a whole lot of heads, and a couple of bodies...velcro attachment, perhaps...
It could also be a crude measure of popularity...have opposing political figures, religious figures, hollywood types, wall street types, you name it. Who is hated enough to fork over a buck to cleft their virtual self in twain?
I like it!

I can only say that I'm saddened, if not surprised, to see that the American inclination to seek gratification by inflicting bodily harm on ones enemies, or in this case, their effigies, extends even to the skeptic community.

Effigies are an American inclination? What planet are you from?
Forget baseball bats. I want a laser disintegrator.

Normally I wouldn't condone this sort of thing, but my instincts tell me it would be cathartic to demolish effigies of Edgar Cayce, Nostradamus, Robert Bauval and Graham Hancock.
edited to add Richard Hoagland. grrrrr.
