Today's random thoughts....
How come when a guy kisses a guy in Alexander, we hear a lot of Americans complain about how disgusting it was, but when two girls kiss in Elektra, it's just cool?

You didn't.... that was the Greeks pitching a fit over Alexander.
There is nothing new or shocking about gay themes and theatre in America...

Yeah, I heard the Greeks weren't terribly happy with "Alexander."
Two men kissing threatens the macho man-John Wayne-Rambo-testosterone driven image America has of itself. Really flaming gay men, like Carson on QEftSG are more easily accepted in current American culture. In the words of the immortal Homer:
I like my beer cold, my TV loud and my homosexuals fa-laming.

I suppose because as a movie, Alexander just plain sucked.

John Wayne was a long time ago...
we've gone from Liberace, to 'LaCage', from Kushner's 'Angels', to 'Will and Grace' without riots in the streets.
Seriously, I don't recall a major popular upheaval over guys kissing in Alexander. I'm sure somebody was unhappy about it, but no one in circles I pay attention to.

Oh I know that. No one I know would be upset over seeing two men kissing (except maybe my idiot brother-in-law, not so affectionately known as Dumb@ss), but I would bet that the macho testosterone thing is at least part of the reason it disquiets some people.
