View Full Version : Al Jazeera Reporters chased out of Iraq by Iraqi people

The Iraqi people were so upset with Al Jazeera for not reporting accurately about the war that they literally chased the reporters over the border to get them out of the country. Also, Iraqis in Deaborn Michigan attacked an Al Jazeera "news" crew.

I'd say theres alot of egg on the faces of the left, and America haters in general.

If they would just reverse there bias they can get jobs at FoxNews.

Why did they go along wh the Iraqi propaganda? Arent they based out of Qutar, an ally in the invasion.

I miss Mohummad Al Whtaz his name. The Iraqi Press Minister. His daily talks were pure entertainment. He should get his own late night show in the US.

Dang it, I miss Baghdad Bob too. Maybe there's an opening at The Onion. Talent like that shouldn't be wasted.
Just talked to Shadowman on msn im. He reports there is some dismay that Bobbikins and Al-Jeezera may not have been on the up and up with their reporting.
With all the troop resupply and humanitarian aid arriving, he's working 14-16 hour days. Comedy and laughs are hard to come by. I think he really misses Bob.:(

We wish Baghdad Bob the best. Democrats and liberals are looking for a talk radio savior to carry their banner into the 2004 elections. A little immersion training in the English language and Baghdad Bob might be their man! Lord knows he certainly is adept at discussing ideas and issuing statements that have discernable connection with reality.

 :D

I'm looking for a source for either of these items. Anyone?

I found CNN to be just as biased, but from the pro-war side. :)

Here is something on Al-Jazeera that I found quite interesting:

Unveiling Al-Jazeera (http://www.cbc.ca/disclosure/archives/030401.html#aljazeera)

The war in Iraq has been the most covered war in history. And a lot of the pictures are coming from a new media power - the Arab satellite station, Al-Jazeera.

This brash upstart has won big audiences in the Arab world and lots of attention in the Western media.

Disclosure's Gillian Findlay spent the first days of the war at Al-Jazeera's offices in Qatar and reveals a different face of the media darling.

You can watch the archived show online. It reveals the motivation behind Al-Jazeera showing the video of captured U.S. POWs. The archived show runs about 17 minutes. Click on the above link to view it.

I had stumbled across this article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/1980191.stm) yesterday...

Bahrain has banned the Arabic television channel Al Jazeera from reporting from inside the Gulf state, Information Minister Nabil al-Hamr said on Friday.
...
"We believe (Al Jazeera) is suspect and represents the Zionist side in the region. We will not deal with this channel because we object to its coverage of current affairs. It is a channel penetrated by Zionists."

The Al Jazeera crew was involved in a scuffle in Dearborn:

http://www.detnews.com/2003/metro/0304/10/metro-132660.htm

Crowd members reported a minor scuffle when a Al-Jazeera television camera crew from the Qatar-based Arab news channel appeared. Iraqi-Americans at the rally believed the network sided with Saddam's regime.

"They're unhappy with our reporting," reporter Nezam Mahdawi said.

BTW: I work in Dearborn. This is much bigger here than the anti-war protest they had two weeks ago.

Thanks. Anyone know anything about the source of the "Al-Jazeera chased out of Basra" story?

Several of their reporters were also kicked out of Iraq by Saddams crowd, which led to them shut down everything except the cameras.

Maybe it's just an indication that nobody likes decent reporting?

And before someone bashes me for being a leftist (which I am), yes, Al-Jazeera's reporting has been biased from my point of view. But beside a tendency to judge Israel and not judge Saddam or the Palestinians by habit they've got very good reporting, which is why they're getting kicks from all sides.

I looked, but I can't find anything to confirm the story.

Do you have a source, Richard G?

Besides out right lying and distorting the facts by Al-Jazeera I would say you are correct.

I can't speak for America haters, but why does the left have egg on its face? Have lots of people on the left been praising Al-Jazeera that I'm not aware of?

I never saw them as particularly responsible news, of mild interest because of producing tapes of Bin Laden for us to study for clues, I suppose.

I don't know if it is representative of the Left as a whole, but I have heard several commentators praise Al-Jazeera for "reporting things the US media doesn't want you to hear." Presumably they meant that these things were TRUE as well.
