"Gannongate threatens to expose a huge GOP pedophile and male prostitution ring

By Wayne Madsen
Online Journal Contributing Writer

February 18, 2005—Now that is has been discovered that "Jeff Gannon" (real name James D. Guckert), a "reporter" for Talon News Service, a front operation run by the conservative Republican-oriented GOPUSA.com, was using an alias as a cleared White House reporter, details are emerging that threaten to immerse the Bush administration in a major scandal.

"Gannongate," which is only now being mentioned by the mainstream news media, threatens to expose a potentially damaging GOP pedophile and male prostitution ring dating back to the 1980s and the administration of George H. W. Bush. James D. Guckert, using the name Jeff Gannon and possibly other aliases, was also running gay porn sites, one with a U.S. Marine Corps theme that solicited males for prostitution."

Any word on how this is going would be great, or has Gannon been found face down in a ditch yet? For those of you who don't know who Gannon is:

"Fake reporter unmasked at White House

Suzanne Goldenberg in Washington
Friday February 11, 2005
The Guardian

The White House faced fresh accusations of a clandestine propaganda campaign yesterday after it emerged it granted regular access to a rightwing blogger with a habit of asking President Bush easy questions.

Jeff Gannon, who represented a rightwing site owned by a Texas-based Republican activist, had been a regular at White House briefings since 2003 but aroused reporters' suspicions after posing ideologically loaded questions."

Doubt this story is going anywhere but I'll make a post to see if anybody has anything to say about this.

It would be funny to see some anti-gay Republicans revealed to be closeted gay themselves, ala the whole West thing. Perhaps a love affair between John Ashcroft and Tom DeLay...

It seems that is a distinct possibility, especially when you consider this little snafu:

Gay sex scandal rocks Spokane
Mayor denies he abused boys in 1970s or misused his office

By CHRIS McGANN AND KATHY MULADY
SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTERS

Spokane Mayor Jim West, who championed an anti-gay agenda during his tenure as one of the most powerful Republicans in the Legislature, yesterday admitted to using the trappings of his current office to entice what he thought was a young adult man but denied allegations that he molested two young boys more than 20 years ago."

My former Congressman retired suddenly when he was outed by a blogger outraged at his anti-gay actions. During his military career, he had apparently made drumming gays out of the military a particular crusade of his, and he continued in the same vein as a representative.

I'm curious about such people--are they just attempting to deflect suspicion, or is some sort of psychological self-hate issue?

Everyone remembers our favorite televangelist who spoke out vehemently about Jim Bakker's exploits, then sucumbed to his own scandal (TWICE!). I think it's a tactic that hopes to divert suspicion from oneself, but it's usually the first thing that arouses my suspicions.

I've always said that anyone who hides behind a flag or a crucifix is hoping you won't see what he's doing elsewhere.
