A Halliburton Co. unit will build a new $30 million detention facility and security fence at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, where the United States is holding about 520 foreign terrorism suspects, the Defense Department announced on Thursday.
The announcement comes the same week that Vice President
Dick Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld defended the jail after U.S. lawmakers said it had created an image problem for the United States.
Throw enough money at the problem, something is bound to be fixed, I guess.

They're just adding super-powerful industrial-strength toilets to each cell so they can flush Korans more easily.

Halliburton eh? Wouldn`t be suprised if $25 million of that went "missing in action" and you ended up with a couple of overpriced chicken coops courtesy of Martha Stewart in which to house the world`s most evil and dangerous men .

Your link doesn't work.
I couldn't help but notice that the Halliburton company building the jail isn't mentioned but Halliburton is. Usually the parent company is mentioned at the end of an article (e.g. Bechtel is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hailliburton)
The tendency in the media to use the name Halliburton prominently is just a subtle form of bias since Halliburton has a bad karma because of the moveon and conspiracy movements. I find it funny when media outlets "out" themselves in subtle ways like this.
Some media outlets are more openly biased, the New York Times, the LA Times, the Washington Times (or as i call it, "the looney right wing moonie rag").
This more subtle form of bias is much more dangerous since people get it from what are supposed to be neutral sources.

Um, I think war profiteers like the Halliburton execs are the worlds most evil and dangerous men. The dudes in Gitmo are just a bunch of pissed off Arabs (rightfully so).

Hi and welcome to the forum.
If you knew me a little better, you`d have realised I was indulging in a little irony with my "most evil and dangerous men" remark.:p
I`m sure the guys and kids in Gitmo are amateurs compared to the Neocon Murder Inc.

Um, corp, you don't think Halliburtion's own behavior, abetted K Street and bought of pols, had anything to do with it?

Don't even try and act like you don't know that Conoco wants to build a pipeline from Venezuela through Cuba to the Bush ranch in Texas!
