From the article:

"Fed up by war protesters clogging streets with their signs and traffic-obstructing tactics, the Republican leader of the [Massachusetts] state Senate has filed legislation to force them to pay the law enforcement costs of their demonstrations."

I guess I always assumed protesters could be fined for disrupting traffic, the peace, tresspass, etc. But are police costs ever passed on to those convicted of criminal charges? Seems like an unusual move.
