"Moscow - A Russian astrologist who says Nasa has altered her horoscope by crashing a spacecraft into a comet is suing the United States space agency for damages of $300-million"

The paltry million in an objective evaluation against $300 million in court just seems insignificant. :D

Nasa representatives in Moscow were unavailable for comment.
Due to being bent double in pain from laughter.

And how did this astrologer reach the figure of $300 million. Is that her projected loss of earnings? What does she charge for a sitting?

At $9.99 a minute, it wouldn't take long (lots of hold music?). But the real question is: how do you make a prima facie case out of that? The court documents alone would probably keep us in tears for at least a month.

I wonder how the quantum nano-chakras will ever be realigned with the fourth house of Saturn rising, now that the comet has been moved in its orbit by .000001mm. So much silliness on so many levels...

I can see this thread being a barrel full of fun for about a week.

From MosNews.com:
http://www.mosnews.com/feature/2005/04/19/deepimpact.shtml

“Imagine leaving Moscow, then returning to find everything’s changed,” says Vladimir Portnov, a physicist and a professional astrologist. “Of course, everyday people will feel the implications of destroying a comet.”

According to Portnov, even something as “minor” as comets play a role in creating humanity’s psychic environment. By wantonly destroying a comet, NASA will inevitably disrupt that environment — with the most likely result being mass anxiety.
I count no less than 5 ludicrously baseless assumptions in the above quote. Impressive.

6, if you count the fact that she should be concerned in this instance with lack of mass anxiety. ;)

Who cares about the so-called "science" of astronomy when you can follow the true calling of astrology? This Copernicus fellow was a quack, and so were all the so-called astronomers who looked in the skies thinking that there is a scientific explanation for what is truly a mystical and enlightening field of study. These astronomers should stop butting in on the astrologists' territories and leave the skies for the people who can truly appreciate it.

Oh, and by the way, the Apollo project was a farce. There was no landing on the moon.

Suppose the monetary a better explanation than my hypothesis that there's no evidence of any of this bull[poo]. Then again, $300 million going to the one who invests the most money in lawyers does make it seem easier in terms of profit.

She's right! I did experience a significant change due to the Deep Impact! Due to the nano fluctuations in my star chart, my whole world is completely different!

Now I'm Queen of Australia and I have everything I could ever want. Thanks NASA!

She is claiming this amount because it is what NASA paid for the mission. I don't know where the logic is in that, but then, there is no logic to this anyway.

Yeah, it was, though considering some of the people that post here, I don't begrudge your confusion.

Anyone else wondering if this russian person took their cue from the joker up here in Minnesota suing Copperfield in federal court over Copperfield's alleged use of his "god powers"?

Do these folks hold meetings?

How do I sign up for that entertainment?

Actually, you're a sewage worker in the Bronx. Your wife is a manager at Burger King, weighs 350 pounds, and has a fungus problem.

Your children, however, are lovely. :)

This post is nowhere near as funny now that everyone understands that you're not a guy.
