G,G&S is one of the best science books I have ever read. If the show is only 1/10 as good as the book, it will be a great TV show.

I thought part one was a very good condensation of the first section of the book. I look forward to part 2. How many are there? It seems like the first show covered about 1/3 of the book, but it's been a few years since I read it.

I was disappointed but it may because I just finished reading the book. There was very little new in it for me. If I had not read the book, it might well have been better.
One thing that particularly bothered me was the USian POV. In the book he always uses the phrase Eurasians and the show said Europeans and Americans. In context of the book "American" meant indigenous Americans. I found this confusing.
I also liked the examples of the conquistadors being brought up early in the book. It made a good distinction between the proximate causes (guns, germs, steel) and the ultimate causes that are geographical (plants, animals, continent orientation).
I guess I hoped for too much which was unrealistic.
