View Full Version : JESUS....my Friend.

13th April 2003, 07:58 PM
Today my wife and kids went to church. They are catholics.

Is the beginning of The Holy Week. Is how catholics make a meditation about Jesus life. There are some rituals related to this week.

I am not identificated with an specific religion, but I try to respect the beleifs of the persons in this non-unanimous (...) subject.
I guess I am a type of pantheist (...) and try to love every single atom of this universe.

About Jesus: I consider him my friend.
I don't pretend to debate about his existence, beleifs, etc.

Sometimes he helped me just remembering his atributed words.
I think those words are useful to know us a little more.

I have more friends of that type , yes, it doesn't matter if they are part of another age and time and history. It doesn't matter if I did not know them personally. I consider them , my friends.

Do you have those "kind" of friends?

Thanks,
S&S

P.S.

Jesus, I love you.

I told Jesus I loved him once.

He smiled at me, stroked his hand though my hair, and looked into my eyes.

I wrapped my arms around him, and then we... we... we kissed.

One thing led to another and before I knew it we started having sex.

He was rough, for my first time. I told him to be gentle but he wouldn't! I bled for five days after that.

Every single atom? LOL. A pantheist, huh?

So it doesn't have to exist to be your friend?

Oh, you think he existed and still talks to you. You are a christian not a pantheist.

Nope, sorry, all of my friends actually exist. I stopped having nonexistent friends when I was about 8, and then I only had one invisible friend.

Hi Dark Cobra:

Posts like yours don't bring any kind of benefit to the skeptical society. Not to the JREF either.

Posts like yours only demonstrate your personal problems.
We all know your problems with your mother about the religious subject. I hope you are working on it.

Maybe a post like "Randi is my friend , his words helped me a lot to know me and to know mankind " would be more nice and polite.

This is not a thread about me or about Jesus.
I know you are a smart kid . Try again.

Thanks,

I like the fact that I am priveledged to have several fine friend-
ships. Many have spanned several years. If they have a common
human decency about them, I don't care what they believe. I care
about how they treat me and how they treat others. I have always had aetheist friends, but I also have friends that are believers. We all meet on some common ground. Sometimes
a sense of humor, interest in the same type of art, etc.

It is difficult, if not impossible for me to imagine Jesus as a friend. It just isn't my foundation. But how lonely life would be if
I only allowed others into my life that had the exact same belief
system. My friends are too important to exclude over something
that is just one compartment of their life.

Hi Kelving G:

Is that sense of homour I need , really expensive?

I assume you find Dark Cobra post very funny.
I assume you have a cheap sense of humour.

Carlos, there's a few historical figures that interest me a lot, and I would have liked to have had as friends. There are quite a few fictional characters that I'd like to have had as friends as well. I'd have loved to hang out in Rivendell with Elrond and the guys.

I don't consider them as friends, however. They do provide inspiration in my life. I occasionally find myself thinking "What would Ghengis do?" (normally when some scum cuts me off in traffic)

I found Dark Cobra's post to be funny, but then, I don't have any emotional attachment to the christian mythos.

Well, just a kind of pantheist , is more defined with my thoughts and principles.

Yes, keep them beliefs dynamic, then they cannot be defined or falsified. We've seen your type of "religion" many times before here.

I have his atributed words. Is enough for me.

Does the same go for Peter Pan?

As I wrote I am not pretending to debate in his existence or in yours beleifs.

I realize you aren't debating about the existence of jebus, you simply want to assert that this character actually existed. You won't debate it because you know there is no evidence to support your position.

I assume you don't think he existed. Where did you read I talked with him? And yes, Jesus is part of this Universe.

LOL. Jesus is as much a part of the universe as Mickey Mouse is, they are fictional characters. And reading the fiction of the bible, I really don't understand why anyone would call Jebus a friend. Jebus preached to hate everyone but him, Jebus preached to hate the Jewish people, Jebus was racist and obviously not an animal rights advocate. You picked a strange mythical hero to admire.

You can be "friends" with mythical characters all you want, it only shows your insanity.

I grew up as an only child. Mom was kind of cold, and Dad was usually out at sea (Navy). At one stage, I developed imaginary friends. They listen to me, play games, and they were always there for me. They weren't real, they were just the product of a sad, lonely little girl's mind. My Mom would be very indulgent and say she liked my friends.
I sort of treat christians the way Mom treated me.

But I grew up. Why don't you?

I had this guy once tell me he wanted to be my friend. I asked him what would happen if I said no. He explained that if I didn't become his friend he was going to put me into a lake of molten lava and stick things up my butt. I asked for how long and he said forever.

I don't want to even be in the same world as this "friend". Fortunately I am not.

Ah, Christianity - for a dollar a week you can listen to long, boring, passionate speeches about fairy tales, sing a few songs, and get together with your adult friends to play make-believe.

Hey S&S
I’ll ask you this
What if on the day of your judgment Jesus says “yes you and all the “pantheists” are my true followers and you will live forever with me in heaven” (you ask) “and what of my family, my friend Jesus”? “Why; says Jesus they were catholic, they can’t go to heaven they must suffer eternal damnation”!
Is he still your friend ???????

Yes, keep them beliefs dynamic

It's a good thing... no, it's a bad thing.. no, a good thing! Oh blast, he can't decide.

When science is dynamic that's good... when someone's religious beliefs are dynamic, that's bad?

Hi kedo:

In your assumption Jesus is alive, and is a GOD.
Is not my assumption. I don't have that kind of problem.
Your athiest beleifs maybe made you did that question.

Please read my opening post .
Maybe is a confussion , not only with you and the posters , but also with the administrators who moved this thread.
This thread is not about me, or about Jesus.
Is a metaphor, clearly explained.

I am not even technaquily (...) a "pantheist". I just said a "kind" . only to help you all know how I feel with my thoughts.

According to your reply , also Socrates words must be faked.
Remember he also never wrote nothing. Plato speaked for him.

I am talking about atributed words.
And yes , those atributed words to Jesus, make me feel he is my friend. Remember is a metaphore.

I guess that you are saying if someone has stated something that we find valuable then they are our friend.

Well shoot I got plenty of friends like that! It doesn't mean I would loan them money.

Seriously S&S, humor is akin to divinity, if you can't laugh at your beliefs then they aren't very strong beliefs. I have also seen many posts that were serious and have brought down the level of discussion. Maybe a dscussion of sex with Jesus is not a direct answer to your question but it is an answer.

Hi Hal:

This thread was moved from the banter to this section, days before you posted this warning.
No warning or advise was posted when the administrator(?) did it.

I assume that you (or the one who did it ) and the JREF were satisfy and proud with the post of Dark Cobra (second post i in this thread) , and with the supports he had.
Your silence about it , the first move of this thread without any warning, are my reasons to that assumption.
Now, that I am just posting their own words , you "seem" to be worried. It is not new for me.

My opening post is clear enough. It is not about religion. Is not about my theological points.
Is not my fault if pseudo-skeptics members just have as arguments those low -insulting material.
This forum is not having the benefits you wish , the double speech of you all are just ruining it.
Imagine this thread was read by some public schools, students of all kind, potential donators to the JREf, general public, etc.

And now you appear with your warning!!!

Give me a break!

Do whatever you want with this thread.
But basically , be honest enough. I know you can.

Hi Hal:
You can sigh all you want.

You are always over my threads. Is a fact.

The same administrator who moved this thread (after more than 8 posts) from the banter to this R&P section , is the one who should reported to "you" (the boss) how your pseudo-skeptics non arguments followers, are acting with those kind of "proud" vulgar , low insulting , ashame posts.

Who are you tryng to fool ? Not me, Hal.

You can not even fool all the guests who followed this thread from the beginning.
Is a fault of this "double speech" administration of an Educational Foundation forum.

Keep on sighing.

Hi C4ts:

According to Randi, Linda; Hal, Jeff and Andrew is a difficult concept to define. Just read the "new" rules.

But I understand your frustration with me , you were called just "more than a little arrogant, and more than a little ignorant", not by me, but yes because of my posts helping you to understand about the concept of Art.

Now, get back to the topic, or Hal will ...I don't know!!!
Or maybe I know.

Thanks,
S&S

P.S.
Hal is free to answer your question.

Unless you're Hal's sock puppet or something, please let him answer my question by himself.

If I am Hal's sock puppet , then you and Hal are the "trolls".

I will now stop reading this thread, sorry S&s you have lost me here. Name calling the moderator, that wins you grown up points!
I thought you had a great point there too, too bad your behavior is now equal (but not as funny) as those people you have been putting down.
Read your stuff some other time.

Any evidence?

Welcome to the ignore setting, troll. Your technique is about as subtle as a train wreck.
