View Full Version : The real reason Muslims become suicide bombers

Is it true that the 'masterminds' behind these bombings convince the suicide bombers that when they kill themselves and others they will go to heaven and have many virgins to have sex with?

Is that their main incentive?

Many people are unhappy with the political situation in the Middle East.
Many Christians, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics, Buddhists etc. feel that certain countries are not even handed in their attitudes to certain policies.
Nobody is happy with the situation one way and another.
It is a complicated region with complicated issues.

But what causes a suicide bomber to go that much further?

Is it really that if they kill themselves (in an act that is proscribed by their holy book) that they will get to have lots of sex in heaven?

Is that the carrot?

People are dying around the world because certain impressionable Muslim young men are told they will have virgins in heaven if they kill?

Am I wrong?

I understand the reasons behind the anger a Muslim might have about certain issues.

But I will never accept what some of them do as a result of their anger.
And particularly if the reason they actually perform their heinous act is just to have sex with theoretical virgins in heaven - is that not the most pathetic aspect of all?
There is also a vague rape aspect to the whole concept - sex whenever you want with unknown young girls.

I have made this post simply because it sickens me that lives could be lost because ultimately someone thinks they will get more sex in heaven because of an act of violence.
It strikes me as pitifully juvenile.

Much like the violence in "Marching season" in Ireland. So very, very pathetic, childish and awful. Childish tiny minds stuck in embarassing times in history.

And not a single one remembering that their God has told them to not kill.

God/Allah has commanded that people kill each other countless times!

I thought it was raisins not virgins....?

On a side note I saw an unsupported speculation on the news this morning that the bombers may have been "tricked" by thier controller and the bombs were detonated early on the "dead men tell no tales" principle.... If its true all I can say is...with friends like these....who needs enemies.

YOung men and women are just the right age for this kind of "work". Sacrifice for a cause isn't just a Muslim thing. It isn't just for the virgins.

Look at the IRA. Look at the Weathermen. The SLA.

Kamakazie pilots. they weren't Muslims.

I read once that after age 26 you can't train someone to do this kind of stuff anymore. I read this in an officers manual!

Look at the average age of someone on the front lines in a war? It isn't just that the young men and women are "stronger". I know a lot of 30 year olds that are as strong or stronger than any 20 year old. 20 year olds follow orders better!

They are also looking for meaning in their lives. Even our own army looks to the disaffected and young to fill their ranks. It's not a bad thing, the ARmy has been a traditional way out of poverty for many people. But once they hit 26, basic training is a bust.

Yeah, it's been said this is one main motivation.
Although, if they're in heaven, they're dead, too.
Somehow, not an appetizing prospect.

Then, I am reminded of the famous Cedric the Entertainer commercial for Bud LIGHT where he wishes for 2 girlfriends on a desert island --- then quickly reconsiders when he has a vision of what that'll be like & he realizes that they'll be "on his case" all the time, and the commercial ends with Cedric on a lounge chair on the desert island, with a barbeque, a friendly dog companion and a cooler full of Bud LIGHT.

Besides, it's fun for a while, and then what are you left with? 72 ex-girlfriends. For all eternity. Some paradise.

I saw a snippet of a documentary on British TV last week (apologies for the vagueness - there were quite a few in the wake of the London bombings).

The bit I saw was discussing the contradiction between the Koran explicitly forbidding suicide and the reality of people who proport to follow that faith blowing themselves up ... it showed video clips in which the suicide-to-be "declares" themselves dead, dons a death shroud and poses for friends and family to mourn (and for the obligatory propaganda video to be taken). That way, they are already dead before they commit suicide ... so it can't be suicide

I suppose that, if you can bend rules like that round a U-bend then you can do whatever you want and pretend to yourself that your faith justifies it.

(p.s. I know about the obvious flaw in the preverse logic before anyone points it out: the act of "declaring" yourself dead then becomes your moment of suicide.)

These poor guys are going to spend eternity being given lists of odd jobs that need doing around the place, and being asked if they've done the washing-up yet.

Am I wrong? Yes, because they have to die in combat as well to get the virgins.

They have to kill and die.

Suicide bombing is one way to achieve this. They think.

It is not killing, but death in combat which earns the heavenly rewards. Indeed, suicide per se is forbidden in Islam. But not fighting aganst massive odds, such as (and this is where the nutty clerics get clever) sitting on an enormous bomb.

Of course they need to twist the Qur'aan a bit, but hey, look what people do to the Bible.

As to whether the stuff about virgins is truly what motivated them, I do not choose to guess: but I would like to suggest that maybe they are also violent suicides, like the Columbine criminals, going out in the very opposite of a blaze of glory and heroism. But at least they get noticed.

CNN once had a show on that followed up on the family of one of these suicide bombers (after the suicide). The families are treated very well, often as heros. Also, there is a rise in the economic life of the family as well as their status. They are very well taken care of, so they could think of it as a way of helping out mom and dad.

The first thing Moses did when he came down from the mountain with ten commandments -- one of them being do not kill -- was to order that the worshippers of the golden calf be killed.

Islamic terrorism has an interesting history:

"The Old Man kept at his court such boys of twelve years old as seemed to him destined to become courageous men. When the Old Man sent them into the garden in groups of four, ten or twenty, he gave them hashish to drink. They slept for three days, then they were carried sleeping into the garden where he had them awakened."

"When these young men woke, and found themselves in the garden with all these marvelous things, they truly believed themselves to be in paradise. And these damsels were always with them in songs and great entertainments; they; received everything they asked for, so that they would never have left that garden of their own will."

"And when the Old Man wished to kill someone, he would take him and say: 'Go and do this thing. I do this because I want to make you return to paradise'. And the assassins go and perform the deed willingly."
- Marco Polo - on his visit to Alamut in 1273

"That Hasan-i Sabbah and other early Assassin Masters had gardens seems likely since the garden is such an important part of Persian noble life and of mysticism. The water channels and meticulous care to ensure regular water supplies at Assassin castles echo the care which Persian and Arab villages and country houses today give to the presence of running water. So the legend of the garden in which Assassins were taken probably has its origins in fact."

"Many scholars have argued, and demonstrated convincingly, that the attribution of the epithet 'hashish eaters' or 'hashish takers' is a misnomer derived from enemies the Isma'ilis and was never used by Moslem chroniclers or sources. It was therefore used in a pejorative sense of 'enemies' or 'disreputable people'. This sense of the term survived into modern times with the common Egyptian usage of the term Hashasheen in the 1930s to mean simply 'noisy or riotous'. It is unlikely that the austere Hasan-i Sabbah indulged personally in drug taking."

"There is no mention of that drug [hashish] in connection with the Persian Assassins - especially in the library of Alamut ('the secret archives')."

"Once established in a secure and permanent base, Hasan sent da'is [missionaries] out from Alamut in all directions, At the same time he pursued a policy of territorial expansion, taking castles either by means of propaganda or by force, and building others... Life at Alamut, and we may suppose in the other fortresses at this time, was characterized by extreme asceticism and severity."

"Political assassination was not unknown in Islam before Hasan-i Sabbah. Earlier sects had used murder as a political technique, and there is evidence that Mohammed himself disposed of his enemies by suggesting that they did not deserve to live - and hoping that faithful followers would take the hint. There had even been an extremist Shi'ite group known as the 'stranglers' after their preferred method of assassination."

The word assassin "definitely entered the literary vocabulary when it was used by Dante." In The Divine Comedy: Hell, Book XIX, "Dante describes himself as 'like a friar who is confessing the wicked assassin':

'Io stava come il frate che confessa
Lo perfido assassin...'

"Here the strongest possible noun is required since the criminal being confessed is being buried alive head down, thus denoting a sin of particular horror. The connection of assassin with wickedness reinforces the clarity and precision with which Dante used the word, and it was in this sense that 'assassin' then passed into other European languages."
- Edward Burman, The Assassins - Holy Killers of Islam

But wait! There's more! Don Pardo, tell the lucky martyr what he's won:

The martyr (shaheed) has seven blessings from Allah: he is forgiven from the moment his blood is first shed; he will be shown his place in Paradise; he will be spared the trial of the grave; and he will be secure on the Day of the Greatest Terror (the Day of Judgment); there will be placed on his head a crown of dignity, one ruby of which is better than this world and all that is in it; he will be married to seventy-two of hoor al-`ayn (most beautiful pure women); and he will be permitted to intercede for seventy of his relatives.

You forgot the Tamil Tigers. Tthey invented the suicide belt and are probably responsible for more suicide bombings than any Islamic group. And they arent religious.http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/06/30/schuster.column/
