View Full Version : Does a religion have to "own" a city before declaring it holy?

Suppose a large group of rabbis declared that Tehran is the holiest city in Judaism and suppose that the flag of Israel were redesigned to show a stylized picture of the Azadi Tower in Tehran, Iran instead of the Star of David.
Would Iranians refrain from burning the Israeli flag? Would Islamic militants attack Tehran?

That's just crazy talk.
Everyone knows that objects like shrines and flags and cities become sacred because all the true believers can see the holy aura around them.

You want to see evidence that I think before posting?
Here is an offer:
Register at the "USS Liberty Court of Inquiry Forum."
That message board has a section called the "Advanced User Discussion Forum", which is "limited to members who have demonstrated, through their postings, that they are serious and responsible."
If you get into the "Advanced User Discussion Forum" then I will provide evidence.

If you get into the "Advanced User Discussion Forum" then I will provide evidence. Now that's comedy, intentional or not.
Just tell me who's ass you have to kiss to get into the advanced forum, and I'll get right on it.

Had I replied quickly, you might have said that I didn't give myself enough time to give sufficient thought to the question.
