Pyrokinetic--dumb word?

Recently, on the SF channel, I've been hearing the word "pyrokinetic" used a lot. Apparently, it's supposed to describe someone who can set fires with the mind at a distance.

However, wouldn't "telepyretic" be the correct word?

After all, even a mere mortal such as I can move things with fire. I do it every time I start the car.

What did Stephen King call it? Unless I am mistaken, that was his idea for a book...
