"All IRA units have been ordered to dump arms. All Volunteers have been instructed to assist the development of purely political and democratic programmes through exclusively peaceful means. Volunteers must not engage in any other activities whatsoever.

Well we shall see if this includes punishment beatings, cleaning up after murders in pubs and the like.

Nope. Their criminal activities will continue unabated, in fact that is the real mission of the IRA today. All that fighting w/ the British just takes resources away from drug sales, protection rackets and gambling operations. Brings extra, unwanted police and military pressure. Now they're better able to build their own Al Capone-style mafia. The residents of NI must be so happy! :(

The IRA is not involved in drug sales. Vigilante action against people selling drugs yes selling drugs no. It's unionist mob who are begind a lot of the drug stuff.

Perhaps it was more a matter of shooting rivals?
