b) The scale of the response far outweighs the origonal "response" by a factor of about 10 re being bothersome.

If someone has posted garbage to one's thread, isn't the appropriate choice to ask a moderator to step in, rather than compounding the problem?

He is spamming threads from people that had nothing to do with this.

Personally I think all the spam messages (including the original) should be removed, preferably by those that posted them.

The problem is that it has been allowed for a long time. That is, people posting recipes etc. Besides, if the garbage was removed by a moderator, then the whole censorship thing would start again. So, we walk the tightrope. Jedi Knight has just as much right to post garbage to someone else's thread as the posters who post garbage to his thread. If nothing is done about the original garbage, then nothing should be done about his garbage. That's the way I look at it.

Reginald, Jedi Knight would not be allowed to wreck the forum. As for the scale of response- people have been posting garbage to Jedi's thread for months- so Jedi spamming a few threads is no comparison to me. If you don't believe me, do a search. I guess it's all subjective really. As for two wrongs not making a right. I think people can see how Jedi Knight feels now and I think he has a point. He is seen as a troll so it's "ok" to spam his threads. I think that it's wrong. If one doesn't agree and doesn't want to argue their side then one shouldn't post to his threads. If Hal disagrees with me, I'm sure I will get a public flogging! I definitely care about what everyone thinks on this issue. If I am proven wrong or you change my mind I will publically state so. No, that is not justification. The courts can sort out justification.

What you are talking about is cause/effect. Some people can be on the right side of cause and effect, and some people can be on the wrong side of cause and effect.

For example, many leftists on the forum say that Israel would not have suicide bombers blowing up their citizens with nail bombs if they would just give their country away to terrorists. That is the wrong side of cause and effect to stand on.

The right side is to stand with Israel and say that the people who are bombing them with nail bombs are wrong.

See how it works? Sub-man brought up situations where I commented on leftist cause/effect and he didn't like it so he accused me of "justifying" violence. Using his moronic logic, that would mean all the leftists on this forum who think that Israel deserves nail-bombs justify violence against Jews.

It is all cause/effect and there is always a right side and a wrong side to stand on the issue.

I truly wish he had friends and family that could gently nudge him to treatment. Obviously none of them, if he has any, agree with him, just as he cannot cite any of the "numerous" PM's that "invited him back" after labelling this forum one of hatred, and promising to leave.
I have previously expressed my personal care and concern for him as an individual, and I continue that, but will not tolerate behavior that crosses the bounds of civility. I can and do seperate the behavior from the individual, who I love and respect as a fellow human.
