"Lay, Lady, Lay" said Bob Dylan. But was he correct?

I choose to believe that the "big brass bed" cited in Dylan's thesis on this matter is a metaphor for the metallic alloys comprising much of our planet's mass, which did indeed serve as a "bed" for the development of life and eventually the specific (or allegorical?) Lady of which he speaks.

"Why wait any longer for the world to begin
You can have your cake and eat it too
Why wait any longer for the one you love
When he's standing in front of you"
Alternate theory-he was reserving all the lying for himself?
...wait...."alternate"?

I'm amazed at how many forums this simple thread/question could rightfully be placed. Heck mention ghosts and football and we've just about covered em all. :)

No doubt, "getting lied" was not what old Bob was after. What the lady got is anybody's guess.
