Just in case there are people out there who believe all Christians are doing is passing out bibles and baptizing people in the New Orleans soup:

This was a 10 minute search; I won't personally vouch for or endorse any of these groups, though many of them I've heard of and they do good work. I personally choose to support the Red Cross. However, for every post above I bet there are 20 more I could post with another 30 minutes of looking, and probably hundreds more doing things without a website, like the churches in my small town in East Tennessee.

I'm waiting for Pat Robertson's response that the sinful nature of people in New Orleans brought this to them.

Also, how do you know what a real Christian is?

There are plenty of secular organizations helping out victims. The Red Cross is one of them. ;)
