About how far into the show does this exchange take place? Montel hasn't aired here yet.

About 20-30 minutes in. I dont know if he posts transcripts but it really has to be seen. The puzzled look on the victims face is great, like she just figured out that Santa does not exist.

I'll see if I can capture the video on my husband's computer. If not, I can get sound only on mine.

I do too exist. Look at me, over here, yep, that's me, Santa.
And Sylvia Brown is a nutcase, I don't go anywhere near that chimney.

I captured the video and here's the exact transcript.
Woman: My daughter has been in the hospital for the last few months. Is she going to be okay?
SB: Yes, she is. Are they checking her whole vascular system?
Woman: No.
SB: I want them to check her vascular system.
Woman: Okay. Right now it's mental health related.
SB: Well, I want them to check her...check her vascular system. Because for some reason her blood flow is...something is wrong. It's slowing down.
Woman: Okay.
Montel: That can be causing the illness?
SB: Oh, absolutely.
All I can say is...yikes.

I think they need to check the blood flow to Sylvia's followers' brains...
OK. That was mean.

God I don't know how anyone can believe her! And people just HANGGGG on every word. I am neither a total believer, nor a total skeptic....but I cannot buy this obvious stage act. It amazes me that people pay HUNDREDS to see her. Every single question a person throws at her, she has an "answer" for! Amazing.,....it is just too awful for words.....:(

The blood is slowing down? Holy crap! I think friggin' Galen must have debunked that one. Any minute now the Sun will circle the Earth.

No problem, I'm sure Montel will catch it in his follow-up show, where he follows all the previous predicvtions by Sylvia to show how accurate she's been.
(yes, sarcasm, for those of you that can't recognize it.)

Sylvia is amazing to me. The way she is able to look at someone and judge a lot about them enough to give them a reading that they fall for. Sure at times she misses but she does the right thing stay firm with her answer and move along. Im sure she laughs at people like James Randi and other skeptics that rip on her and call her a phoney. I only say that because there is no way she believes that she is psychic and I while I have no proof (although my claim is testable!!) Im sure she has made a ton of money doing this.

What gets me is that she has never gotten into any trouble for her "diagnoses", what with her not being a medical professional in any way, shape or form.

Hey thanks.
The applause comes after 'Please welcome to the show "heather."' I don't think anyone was applauding for that obviouos flop. That woman's face was great when she realized Sylvia was a fake.
How can these people buy into that?
I had never heard her voice before. How much does that troll woman smoke? Good lord it sounds like her esophagus is the chimney at a coal burning power plant.

My sister-in-law used to be a big believer in Sylvia. Until I started pointing out all of Sylvia's generalizations and outright misses, my s-i-l just didn't register those answers. It was selective hearing.
As for her voice, one day my niece and I had this conversation:
Niece: Aunt Lisa, is the crazy lady on TV today?
Me: Crazy lady?
Niece: You know, the one who sounds like a man?
Me: The crazy lady who sounds like a man?
Niece: Yeah. You know...
Me: Judge Judy?
Niece: No, the one who tells people things?
Me: Sylvia?
Niece: Yeah! Her!
I gotta give one thing to Sylvia. She has been
great for helping me teach my kids (and nieces) critical thinking.

the sad part for me is that everyone in my family believes in her 100% and totally blocks me out when i try to enlighten them. sometimes by screaming at me in anger at my 'lack of faith'. they find it...disturbing.

We're doing the paranormal unit in my seventh grade science classes right now. I give extra credit to anyone who tapes Sylvia or Edwards or Van Praugh, etc.
Someone brought this tape of Sylvia in yesterday and we watched it. I told the kids to listen carefully to what she said and then we'd discuss it. I explained what the word vascular meant.
A good number of the kids had a "What the hey!" reaction to this clip. One of the responses: "Mr. Barrieau, she just says anything and they believe her!"

Old TV show reference. "Kung Fu" starring David Carradine.
ETA: A young kung fu student has a blind, old master who calls the boy "grasshopper". Master tells boy, "When you can snatch the pebble from my hand you will be ready" or something like that. The boy tries to grab it, but the master closes his hand first. You see the boy try and try and finally, he snatches the pebble from the old man's hand. Thus, he is a Jedi.

This thread has been most enlightening.
From now on when someone suggests that I’m stupid or crazy (which seems to occur with annoying frequency) I can now say, ‘Not at all my good fellow, I merely have slow blood.’

Is that even possible? Blood slowing down?
I mean, if the heart pumps normally, the blood has to flow at the same speed, doesn't it?

Sorry for being pedantic, but there were two masters involved. The old monk (Master Po) called the student "grasshopper". It was the head of the school who had the pebble in his hand. I don't think anybody but Master Po called the boy "grasshopper".
Okay, I'm done. Carry on.

I came across a Sylvia book, don't remember which one, but it had a disclaimer by Montel Williams on the front.
I opened it up and checked out a couple of pages. "Sylvia instinctively told them..." "Sylvia knew it was only a matter of..." "as Sylvia had told them..."
Not in a million years. Not even from the library. Sorry.

Thanks for the correction. Frankly, I'm amazed that I remembered any of it all. I was but a mere wisp of girl when Kung Fu originally aired.
