President Bush had a more pressing worry than terrorism or reforming the United Nations during a Security Counil meeting in New York yesterday - the leader of the world's only superpower wanted to go the loo.
At one point during the Council's debate on international security and UN reform, Mr Bush picked up a pencil and wrote a short note to Condoleezza Rice, the Secretary of State.
"I think I may need a bathroom break? Is this possible?" the note read.
The photograph, taken by a Reuters photographer, was widely reposted and discussed on the internet - including a piece on the influential Drudge Report under the title "Bush Needs to Go Potty".

I'm not sure I understand the news value of this photograph, except maybe to demonstrate the humanity of the POTUS. Yes, like all of us, he sometimes needs to go to the bathroom.
Is this of intereste to anyone past the age of ten?

Of course it is! The most powerful man in the world asking to go to the toilet - it's funny.
Yes we can all understand why he might have decided to check with his SoS first... especially since he probably didn’t know if this was one of those important fund raising meetings or one of those boooring polikical ones ! :)

Sounds rather human to me. What's the big deal?

I know Maureen Dowd will have something snarky to say in her next column, so I won't bother.

Good ole Maureen. Her columns were so boring when Clinton was in office. I remember one about how George Stephanopolous was showing up in TV Shows and Movies represented by thinly veiled lookalike characters. Back then it was hard for me to stomach her columns but I read them anyway since she looked hot from the photo next to the column. I finally gave up reading her columns around 1998 or so due to them never having a brilliant insight or anything of value to say.

She's basically a gossip columnist. I skip her most of the time, but I'll definitely look for the potty reference later this week.

For shame CF, for shame. How quick we are to blindly believe. Coming from you of all people. Tsk, tsk.
I thought this was a skeptics forum? Except when you want it to be true.
