That woman either knows what happened and took the great opportunity to get some free advertising, or just took a guess.
Indeed if someone disappears with the car and nobody can't find it, where could he be? Maybe underwater? OMG you got magical powers!
Not counting all the time a medium could have been proved wrong, but no newspaper writes the news.
Who knows if she can do it for 1$ million ;)

What the headline should say:
Medium guesses right about car crashing into water

This story ran for a few days here in Italy. On TV it was given a pretty believing slant, and the skeptics interviewed were only given a few seconds air time.
None of the news reports mention that there was only a stretch of road a few kilometres long where she could have gone in, and fewer places where she could have crashed without damaging riverside structures. The police had searched the lake in 2003, but not this bit because it was too deep.
So, a limited area, and the police had checked everywhere else. Not exactly impossible odds.

Every so often we hear of a medium making guesses about the location of a missing person, but we never hear any follow-ups. I'm surprised that they don't score more hits by chance alone, especially since their guesses are intentionally vague and rarely more than common sense in woo disguise. How often do we hear a medium use the "near water" phrase?
Btw, Welcome Tyltyl! That makes us at least three... I tells ya, the sooper-evil-swiss-conspiracy is becoming a force to be reckoned with :D

It's a shame that some people get called "Medium" or "Magician" because they can guess right, while some others work hard to save lives and solve cases without a bit of recognition.
If their "magical" powers were true then the World would be a more livable place, but instead they like to deal with the easiest cases.
Why wasn't Lt. Colombo called a medium? He solved every case with some random guesses :)
P.S: Nice to find some other Swiss people here :)
Ciao anche agli italiani visto che lo parlo :)

I'll not hear a bad word against Lt Columbo. Calling him a medium, indeed! The man is an artist, using solid police work, common sense and observation to get his man/woman every time.

Good afternoon.
I happen to own the the first season of Columbo on dvd. Just last night I was watching an episode where Columbo claimed to be a big believer in astrology and palm reading and all that stuff. He then asked if he could look at this guys palm. He rattled off some gooblygook about life lines and stuff. Of course he was really just checking out a ring the suspect had on his left hand that just happened to match a cut on the victims face right where it would be if the murder used his left hand and backhanded her.

Remember the 'runaway bride'? A few psychics contributed drawings of the suspects for police to use in that case - funny how they couldn't even tell that she made the whole thing up. You'd think that would be the first thing they noticed. :D
