Hello my dear JREF'ers (i really don't know how you are suppose to pronounce that...)

It is with great dismay that I write this post, in the middle of what should be the time devoted to study for my exam in Sports Medicine.... Anyway, surfing trough pages about Secretaría de Salud (Health Secretariat in Mexico) I came across in the official webpage (www.ssa.gob.mx) that we in México have the proud to have the only FEDERAL HOMEOPATIC HOSPITAL!!!

http://www.hospitalnacionalhomeopatico.org.mx/

they really make it look as if it was real, and they base on the solely strong argument that they have been working since 1893... and even more they are even proud to be: "The only homeopatic hospital recognized by the government in the entire continent" HELLO!?? doesn't it rings a bell... why would countries such as US and Canada, and Brasil miss that opportunity.. we must be very lucky...

It seems also that there's even an Emergency Room in this Hospital, I can just imagine giving dilluted RCP to the patient (maybe infinitesimal oxygen to keep the brain alive...) but wait.. they also would have to use the very same substances that can make the people go into shock...

I'm getting trough links to pages and pages of homeopatic nonsense... supposedly medical "articles" but non of REAL medical journals, such as BMJ, or The Lancet, the American HEart.. New England....

Well.. I was hoping somebody else had noticed this.. and just had to write because of the anger and the shock.. oh my my...

I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but here in the UK we also have publicly funded (and therefore, presumably, recognised by the government) homoeopathic hospitals, for example: http://www.rlhh.org.uk/.

While I'm not surprised that our glorious government keeps such an installation (and be honest, are you that surprised?), it would still be interesting to visit and see if they actually use homeopathy instead of conventional medicines. They have ORs, and I somehow doubt the patients take homeopathic anaesthesia.

Haha... ! Well.. it really surprised me that the government supported it.. I must be really innocent... I was wondering things about this hospital too...

such as... when a politraumatized patient arrives do we have to apply him dilluted traumas? (like poking him gently), or if he was ran over a car, should we put a little toy car over him?..

In OR should we cause him a little pain (like puncturing him gently with a fine needle) to do anesthesia!? (Ohh i'm such a fool.. maybe in CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE ANESTHESIA works because we cause the patient a little pain when we administrate drugs.. gosh.. silly me.. All the time I tought it was the medication...)

Hrm... so... treating gunshot wounds by poking lightly with a sharp pencil?

No, you do it by poking them with one of the pointy ends of a tetrahedral fire atom.
