The following circular was passed on to me from a colleague. She only recently became aware of the anti-vaccination crowd, and initially considered them a complete hoot but "mostly harmless". But having read some more of their stuff (which she passes to me regularly), the "less" suffix has now been changed to "ful". As in "mostly harmful". And you can see why when you read this. Oh, and I have highlighted and commented on some of the more goggle-eye stuff.
Hi All,
The bird flu push this week has spurred me on to organise a lobbying trip to
Canberra in 3 weeks. There is too much fear and too much scope for
discrimination against those of us who choose not to vaccinate or to
vaccinate selectively.
At this point in time, we are looking to get amendments to current
legislation introduced to do the following:
1- Get rid of the need for parents to visit doctors to sign a conscientious
objection form if they don't want to vaccinate. Currently, GPs have the
right not to sign the form and many of them are not. In addition, many GPs
are abusing parents who come to them to get the form signed. The government
said that this requirement was put in place because parents were forgetting
to vaccinate or they were simply too lazy. Christian Scientists are exempted
from this requirement so we feel that all that would be needed is a stat dec
signed by the parent or parents to say that they conscientiously object to
vaccination and that's that. The result being that children who are both at risk of infection and of being disease carriers will be lost from view. Excellent! Have these people not heard of Typhoid Mary?
2- A link between doctors receiving their General Practice Immunisation
Incentive bribe (could be tens of thousands of dollars a year) and reporting
of adverse vaccine reactions as recognised by the NH&MRC (ADRAC estimates
the current rate of reporting to be between 1 and 10 percent). If doctors
don't report reactions, they miss out on the money. After all - what else
are they being paid for?Well, let's not poison the well, shall we? But I agree - all doctors ever do, day in, day out, is sit on their butts collecting cash by the bucketload. Oh, with the occasional round of golf.
Puh-leeeze!
3- A committee to be set up to advise the government on vaccination policy.
This committee should consist of all vaccine stakeholders such as parents
groups, health lobby groups, natural therapists and representatives from
mainstream medicine.Since when did natural therapists become "stakeholders" in vaccination process? Isn't the whole idea that they want to OPT OUT of that whole business? Topsy-turvey world they live in...
All of this will take money. We need to photocopy heaps of information for
the senators and reps and I need to have help with things like airfares and
meals. I have had a lovely Canberra member off to put me up in her home so I
won't need accomodation, but there are lots of other expenses which we will
need help with.
If you can assist in any way - even $5 will be a big help - please donate.
You can send a cheque or money order to:
AVN
PO Box ***
Bangalore NSW 1234
And state that you want these funds to go towards lobbying.
You can donate on the internet by visiting imadork.com.au. Click on the link
on the home page that says Donate or, if you would prefer to use paypal,
there is a link a little bit further down the page for that.
Call us on 1300 555 088 and use your credit card.
Whatever you do - please donate now! We need to raise awareness in
parliament and also protect our children and ourselves from these draconian
moves by the government to take away our rights to free health choices.
Thanks so much,
