A report released Monday by the Afterlife Civil Liberties Union indicates that nine out of 10 souls currently serving in Hell were condemned on drug-related sins.

"Hell was created to keep dangerous sinners off the gold-paved streets of Heaven," ACLU spokesman Barry Horowitz said. "But lately, it's become a clearing-house for the non-evil souls that Heaven doesn't know how to deal with."

The disproportionate number of drug offenders in Hell is a result of God's "get tough" drug policy of the 80s A.D., imposed after Roman emperor Domitian Flavius introduced opium to his people. God's detractors say His reactionary "one sin and you're out" rule places too harsh a penalty on venial drug users.

According to God's law, souls who possess four ounces of illegal drugs at any point during their mortal lives face a mandatory minimum sentence of eternity.

High-ranking seraphim in the Eternal Justice Department defended God's law.

"It's all about accountability," the angel Nathanael said. "The rule of the Lord affords the complementary blessings of freedom and responsibility, and provides the governing framework under which man is punished or rewarded according to his deeds. The rules are very simple: You do the crime, you do the time. Eternity, in this case."

Taking drugs is one of many options, of the variouse vices that man has as a choice while here on earth. The sin of drugs is probably no worse than any other sin. The true test comes when a person, when shown his/her problem can stop the problem. Many do, in due time.

I have smoked pot in the past. But I have decided, by my choice, to no longer take it. Perhaps God looks more favorably on people who actually have been tempted by a vice and have had the willpower to quit it, than someone who never did it to begin with!

Always remember that Jesus told the criminal on the cross next to him, that he will surely be in Paradise with Jesus, that very day. So, it's never too late to be saved.

Is Pete Rose going to hell for gambling? (or Michael Jordan?) How can we say and judge? Their complete life story has not yet been written. How do you not know that they will or have shunned their way and will go out and give speeches to kids around the country, or something, as an example?

More dilemmas and religious paradoxes to contend with. What about the poor soul to whom god did not give the willpower to quit? Why should he be judged harsher when god failed to give him the same advantage as you (who had the willpower)?

Is Pete Rose going to hell for gambling? (or Michael Jordan?) How can we say and judge? Their complete life story has not yet been written.

Once again indicating that god plays favorites. How many people who died in their 20's or 30's are going to hell because god didn't give them time to shun their way out and give speeches to kids, or something?

But I guess since god knows everything, he probably just kills the ones that wouldn't have changed. No need to give them free-will and the time to exercise it.

Always remember that Jesus told the criminal on the cross next to him, that he will surely be in Paradise with Jesus, that very day. So, it's never too late to be saved.

How about the next day (the day after Jesus and the criminal had both died)- it would have been too late then.

Um, I know drug taking is crime, but when did it become a sin?

It's not only a sin, it's an abomination.
