Skeptic Warrior

Hi,
Guess I should introduce myself. Dale is my name and I have been a lurker on these forums for about two years, but never posted or registered till recently. I find comfort in the fact that many of those that post on the forums hold some of the same views that I do. I should state that I wasn't always a skeptic. I was once a "true-believer" in everything under the sun. I was a karate instructor that helped in a KI clinic in Hawaii, a born again christian, and a new age clone. Long story short, I started questioning the things I believed in and found that there was nothing to support my believing in them. This forums are an inspiration and a great source of knowlegde.
Thanks for letting me tell the tale. Hope to be a member till proof is given for the paranormal. Guess I'll be here for a loooooooong time. :D

There is a n00b thread here! Took me a while to browse my way this far through the forum.
I will introduce myself properly at a slightly later time, as I have just ground through this entire thread (as well as a few others) and for now am rather tired. Unable to lay down an effective sentance. Need sleep.
In the meantime, I come bearing gifts of pr0n and pie -- wait, no... that's another forum...
I come bearing gifts of doughnuts, fishnets, and Italian shoes as a gesture of peace and friendliness.
Hello, all, and I'll be seeing you around shortly. )

Am I allowed to tell my embarrassment tale? I thought I read on a general help topic that personal items are disallowed ? I expected to have received a warning on what I had already said.
As skeptics want proof. I don't have any solid evidence to back up the embarrassing episode any more.

At any rate, I'm 27, aimlessly running around trying to maintain a reasonable level of intelectual stimulation, and doing my best to have some fun along the way.
I'm not sure exactly how I ran across JREF anymore--I've been reading the commentaries here and there for the last few years--though I started looking into the whole woo-woo-ism world some time ago wondering if it might shed some light on those little "perceptual oddities" that crop up from time to time. Alas, so far it has shed none; the more time I've spent exploring, the less I've been suprised in that regard.
Philiosophicaly, I consider myself more or less of an empiricist. Deism and atheism both strike me as opinions on a rather irrelevent issue. Of course, I'm more than open to the posibility to being wrong--as long as some evidence can be found to enhance my understanding.
And of course, behind every handle is a story: I was re-reading the commentary archives before I wandered into the forum here, and the Uri Geller vs Pokemon lawsuit had caught my attention on the basis of sheer absurdity (even worse than when a few bible-belt schools baned Pokemon on the grounds that the game promoted "evolution"... as if pokemon evolution and biological evolution have anything to do with each other at all? Perhaps they simply dont like the "e" word...)
"Psyduck", if I remember properly, is the "psychic" pokemon who has no actual psychic powers--just a chronic headache. That suits the feeling I often get when traveling these roads rather well...
Besides, the combination of "psychic" / headache / duck (quack!) elements was just too fun for me to pass up. ;)
"That's my story and I'm ~stickin' to it~!" - Collin Raye
And while I'm on a roll, I think I might toss in a few vague references to other stuff in this thread that caught my eye...
- I look nothing like Pamela Anderson. Before /or/ after her implants were removed.
- My bra size would 43 (umm...) triple-A, I suppose. Not that I have much occasion to wear one aside from perhaps the occasional halloween and--err.... you know--on "those" nights... :rr:
- Cats.
- Speaking of cats, that cthulu-kitty avatar freeks me out...
- And that grinning-kitty avatar makes me smile like an fool. :D
- And G6's avatar (!!) leaves me in need of a cold shower...

Welcome, Smike!
It's always nice to get new posters from the UK. We are rather outnumbered, but it IS an american forum so we can't complain too much.
Yes, there is high humour here. It's great fun, but the more serious threads have a habit of drawing you in. I found myself questioning my attitude on a lot of subjects, and not just the paranormal. Talking to the folk here has been an experience that has changed me quite a lot. We tend to be insular, don't we? Talking to those american people is great, but we have posters from Brazil, from Chile, Australia, Germany, Denmark, Finland, (look out for Pillory - surreal!), Holland, etc as well.(sorry if I've missed anyone out).
The whole debating thing is worth getting into - sometimes people lose their tempers but mostly they're OK. It makes sure you say what you mean though, and check your facts.
:crc:
Try it - you may be surprised!

Queue here, recently of any number of web boards where I was a long-time part of the vocal minority in terms of scientific knowledge, as part of some "damn fool idealistic crusade" to argue with people who believe in the supernatural.
It's a strange shift, having recently become part of the roster on places like Internet Infidels and JREF's forums, where critical thinking is actually *encouraged*. In making the transition from places like Rapture Ready and ghosts.org to places like this I almost feel like Jane Goodall leaving the chimps and plunging into a wild weekend at Vegas.

Tim, I guess I should think of a better sig - I'm not so much of a skeptic as I am a cynic. Cynicism has made me skeptical of many things and I'm still trying to figure out what's what. It's nice to know a wombat who cares - thx!:)

MLynn, I don't know what a skeptic is either, really. Let's see - someone who doesn't accept a thing is so without some scientific evidence. Close. If someone tells me they can levitate I want to see them do it. More than that, though. I want to be able to appoint the judges, so perhaps a physicist, an aeronautical engineer - and a magician.
A cynic looks at stuff with a jaundiced and misbelieving eye. He's going at it trying to disprove it. I think a true skeptic looks at a suggestion without judging it before the evidence is in. He keeps an open mind. His prejudices shouldn't show.
I like to think I'm like that.

Well, then I'm not sure what I am. Just when I think I can have a positive attitude about the human race, some bastar* from Florida kidnaps and kills an 11-yr old girl and I'm back where I started... cynical?
tim
11th March 2004, 11:14 PM
We all become cynics as we grow older, I fear. I've been around a while and whereas when i was younger I trusted people pretty much that's no longer true.
There are a lot of evil people around it saddens me to say. But - and you knew there was going to be a "but", right? But for every evil bas*ard there are any number of good, ordinary, honest people. Look at this board. Most of us here rush to the aid, both virtual and IRL when one of ours has had a crisis.
So I keep hope. What else can you do? Pack up and go home?:D :D :D
If you want to continue this discussion by P.M. please do. Or not - entirely up to you. I'm going to work in Liverpool today, but I'm back tonight!

MLynn, I understand how you feel but, as Tim points out, the overwhelming majority of people are decent and generally caring.
Even run of the mill criminals, who would burgle your house and steal all your possessions without a second thought, detest rapists, killers, paedophiles and the like.
Fortunately, child killers are extremely rare. Try and keep a sense of perspective. It helps to attempt to focus on the positive side of life, even when dreadful atrocities happen to oneself or others.
Keep smiling :)

Thanks for the welcome Rolfe & Girl6.
The other day I had noticed that the Community forum was gone so I clicked a link in a post that led to a Community thread (coincidentally I think it was a post by Rolfe). I immediately got the "you must register to access this" screen so I assumed that the Community forum had changed to members only. So I figured after two years of periodic lurking I may as well join the fun.

Hi I'm BillyTK and I'm not new here but I am an infrequent insomniac which is why I'm posting at this unearthly hour when most people are either tucked up in bed or puking up in gutters (it's 1-45am gmt - kicking out time in late pubs and clubs). Why can I never get insomnia when I need to be awake lot?

Well, not the outdoor sun. Kitty said that was too dangerous, I guess because it can cause cancer and severe sunburn. She got really worried the one time I accidentally crawled out a window that wasn't adequately boarded over. I have fair hair and burn easily, and WOW! did I have burns for the next few weeks!
But I have something better than the outdoor sun: an indoor sun! Kitty installed an overhead 2-watt night light for me to read by. It works great. Not only is it completely safe, but one can also take the chill off of the rare cold-day-in-New-Hampshire by holding one's hands toward it and imagining it as a source of heat.

My name is Elio.
I'm from Switzerland and I found out about this forum a few weeks ago...
I'm a computer engineer, an amateur magician (I know and admire James Randi but had no idea he had a forum...), I play classical guitar, I love science-fiction, classical and progressive music and always dress in black (I could have been casted for the Matrix... :-) )
I'm a humanist, die hard skeptic and an atheist who loves critical thinking but with a friendly open mind.
I also love to meet people and chat with them.

A warm welcome, Elio.
I think you should find plenty on this forum to interest you. Most people here are friendly but occasionally tempers flare!
If you enjoy it here you may want to go to TAM3 (The Amazing Meeting) in Las Vegas in January next year, when skeptics from all over get together.
And your English is better than that of most of the Americans on this forum!

I will try to be a regular contributor.
But it's not easy for my to write in english (what was I doing at school during english lessons !)
But it's now late in Lausanne... So before I go to bed, I think I'll go to the pub to have a beer and try to impress a few strangers with my cards/coins/bent spoon-key tricks, and also talk with them about crucial questions like "do you believe in afterlife ?", "what do you think about homeophaty ?" or "which conductor gave the best interpretation of Stravinsky's 'Rite of Spring' ?"

So good night everyone... See you soon...

Hi there. I'm new here. I suppose I should say a little about myself? I've been reading this forum for a little while, and i decided I should stop lurking around and join in. I'm only 19 and I'm attending Indiana University (go hoosiers!). I'm pretty new to all of this skeptic stuff, but I find it interesting. I've been an athiest for years and some of my other views match closely to skepticism as well, I just didn't know that it exisited really. I'm glad that it does though. Recently I've been trying to gobble up all of the information about skepticism that I can find, and I'll jump at the chance to learn more. That's a big part of my personality, really. I tend to always dive in head first when i find something that interests me. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. But I digress. I enjoy reading much more than writing, so I doubt you'll see me making too many posts on here, unless I feel obligated to reply for some reason. I'll try to be active though. It'll probably do me some good. I'll wrap this up though.

Hello Elio! I think your English is quite good! Please don't worry about that. We have people from all over the world here that post.
Also, I love classical guitar as well! I'm currently learning how to play, but I've always loved the instrument. I could use some good information on what I should practice to become more proficient. So, if you have any tips, please pass them along!
Welcome to nineinchnails_999! I have heard of the hard rock band, Nine Inch Nails, but sadly, I must say that I haven't REALLY heard any of their songs. I am open to hearing new music, though. So, you've prompted me to check them out. Thanks for de-cloaking and introducing us to you.

You predict the future as well as Slyvia.
I don't really sit out on the beach for two reasons. The first of which is that the sun would ruin my tattoos. The second one being that I'm very fair skinned. Too long in the sun and I would probably burst into flames.
The only one I need to impress in life is myself. I wouldn't work for anyone who did not accept me for who I am. My tattoos have in no way hindered my performance at any job or kept me from reaching a managment position in every company I've worked with. I'm a hard worker and a nice person and if that doesn't get an employer's attention then I'm not the one with the problem.
That's cool if you don't like tattoos. I won't hold it against you.

The fashion around here amongst "young ladies" seems to be to wear jeans that show half their fat flabby a*rses, leaving sufficient space for a tattoo to be displayed on the portion of buttocks between jeans & blouse.
De_Bunk, I have a sneaky feeling that these "young ladies" will still think it's cool and sexy to display an a*rse tattoo, wrinkled and indecypherable as a result of cellulite, when they've added 30 years and yet more weight.

Well AM, going by the number of tattoos I see on women these days I reckon about 50% of the population under 25 have them.
And blokes too. They come in and out of fashion like pretty much everything else, I guess.
The smaller ones can be tasteful, but the larger ones - I'm sorry for this andilina - no. But it's your body and you have the absolute right to do with it what you wish.
Hey, if we all thought the same on taste it would be a very boring world.

I had a splendid foot-in-mouth experience a couple of weeks ago, over a tattoo.
It was my brother-in-law's birthday, and I knew that he was a jewellery-fancier, and that my sister was thinking of getting him a necklace.
So, when he said "Do you want to see my birthday present", and unbuttoned the first couple of buttons on his shirt, I assumed that's what I was going to get to see.
"So long as it's not a tattoo", I chortled, merrily, for no particular reason other than the fact that I knew it wasn't going to be.
"It is, actually", rasps my sister, as B-in-L reveals huge, luridly coloured panel on his arm.
Cue much rapturous admiration over the colours and skill of the artist.
Hem hem. I think I got away with it. At least, I still have all my teeth.
It was particularly hideous, though. I thought it best not to mention that at the time.

Cool..
I lived in Cleveland (well, North Olmstead and Lakewood actually) for about 4 years. Met the mother of my children there. My ex and one daughter currently live in Brooklyn, OH.

Hello everyone,
I'm new to the boards. I've posted a few times already, and just now found this introductory post.
I'm 44/m and live in Mobile, AL. That's pronounced mo-BEEL. Actually, around here, it's pronounced mo-BEE-yull.

Welcome Nigel. I'm just up the road from you in Dayton.
Thanks Mr. Skinny. I've been to Dayton many times - mostly to the Air Force museum. Once I spent an hour and a half just going from the SR-71 to the F117 and back. Back and forth, forth and back. Those two aircraft amaze me.
I knew you couldn't be a native, since no one in Cincy would name their kid Nigel (just kidding - my son is named Ian )
Nope, not a native of either Ohio (where I work), or Kentucky (where I live). Originally from Virginia, I'm trying to convince my wife to move our family to the Southwest (preferable San Diego, but we can't afford to live there, so I'd take someplace like New Mexico or Arizona).
By the by, I'd like to extend a thanks to everyone who's made me feel welcome on these boards. There, that's out of the way.:)

Hi, I've been browsing these forums from early 2002 and finally decided to register. Partly because I can't see those attachments :)
It feels like I know you all...
anyway, I'm 28 years old (male) and from Finland (don't worry, I'm not here to take pillory's place, I don't think that's even possible) :D
My english might be wrong sometimes, but I won't be using pillory-english, even if I'm drunk. :)
ok, what else...oh yeah, my main hobby is Home Theater (thus HT in my name)
and if my sig doesn't make any sense...(in finnish), don't worry,
it wasn't meant to make sense (translation: people die while they're alive...this was said by older
actress on tv interview, but I don't remember what they're were asking her...) :D
that's enough already. One skeptic more, I think...
well, if there's god may he stop this post now...
ps. see? nothing happ....

This reminds me of the Charles Grodin book, "It would be so nice if you weren't here", about his adventures in showbusiness.
(The title came from when Grodin was filming the movie 11 Harrowhouse in England. He was waiting in a room with Candace Bergen, and someone [employee? owner?] of the house asked what they were doing. "We're with the movie production," they replied. "Well, it would be so nice if you weren't here.")
Good read.

Charles Grodin? That cranky guy from Beethoven?
I can imagine him saying that. In every interview I've saw him on,
he sounds like he's p****d off all the time. :D

That's him! He does do cranky very well. And whiny. He does cranky and whiny well. (Ever seen Midnight Run with DeNiro?) Cranky in King Kong (1976), cranky in the Beethoven movies, cranky in Seems Like Old Times with Goldie Hawn, jeez, I guess he does cranky better than whiny! :D
I like him because he has such a dry sense of humour (in his books, at least).

No, if it were the 'school teacher' in me, I'd have insisted that it was meant to be that way for an important lesson. I would then send you out of the forum to have a 'time out' and think about how rude you were being.
I would then think how amazing I am, how omnipotent and all knowing, and I would make a child dance a jig solely for my own entertainment.

My apologies for not realising this was here until my third post...
Um... I'm zaayrdragon, probably the ONLY zaayrdragon anywhere on the internet. That being said, you will now undoubtably find zaayrdragons posting anywhere and everywhere, yes?
I'm up WAAAY to late at night tonight... so forgive me if I ramble.
I'm 31, married, five kids (soon to be six), and a semi-Skeptic, semi-Woowoo... er, it's hard to explain. Rather than the normal 'I'll believe it when it's proven' I tend to believe things until they're disproven, but it doesn't take much to disprove something to me.
So, that being said, I tend to be spiritual but not religious, and hang out with a predominantly Pagan crowd who I enjoy regularly - it's a blast taking turns debunking Christian myth and then doing the same to Pagans all in one hour...
Anyway, I got interested in JREF thanks to the homeopathy issue. I'd never paid any attention one way or another until my wife's doctor told her to take some 30C remedy... Well, I was willing to take some faith that 'like MIGHT cure like', but the second I got to the dilution factor... Let's just say I strongly disapprove of paying $6.00 for a cannister of unflavored Nerds, ok?
Yes, I believe in Aliens. No, I don't believe they'd bother making the trip to Earth just to buzz a bunch of drunk hicks out in Kansas. Yes, I believe in psychic powers. No, I don't believe in people who charge money to tell you 'you'll have some good times, you'll have some bad times. You'll travel and meet someone - I see a John or a Michael." No, I don't believe psychic power can be proven as of yet - I personally feel it's too subjective, random, inconsistant, and uncontrollable to be tested or repeated at will.
I believe that most 'phenomena' that people experience has a perfectly reasonable, logical, or shady explanation, but that there may be a legitimate few that are waiting for science to catch up.
Religion? Please. It's awfully conceited of us to say we know what lies ahead. Treat every day like it's your last; one day, you just might be right.
Anyway, I hope to get to meet most of you and get into lovely debates over all manner of subjects - most of which I fully expect to lose! But, please, no more flogging - I got enough of that after visiting Fade to Black...

Hello zaayrdragon, and welcome.
I guess you approach things from the other end to most of those here. For myself, I don't believe a thing just because someone says it is so, but I don't dismiss it out of hand either. I take the "Interesting! Please show me why that is so" approach.
I think you will find the natives mostly friendly around here. I hope you enjoy yourself!
And you're right. You are the only zaaydragon on the forum.

For information on the Zaayr Astral Dragon, pick up a copy of Palladium Books' Rifts World Book 12: Psyscape. It's a dragon apparently comprised primarily of organic crystals! Sadly, I have no scanner, and can find no links to a Zaayr Dragon, so I must pass on that for now.

I'm not sure where I came up with "Quester_X". The only thing I can think of, is that in middle school, I was on the Quester team. Best not upset the wombat. Every Australian knows that wombats are grumpy creatures that are just upset that they can't climb trees like their cousins, the koala. Also, their pouches face backwards, so they can't store things like M&M's in them, like kangaroos can.
So be warned about the wombat...

Yes, my husband is a member of JREF and I've been reading the commentaries like he has, for ages... but I found the forum before he did, funny enough. So, he's joined and when I get paid at the end of the month, I'll join too. :)
Good ol' dropbears. I'll have to find a nice picy of one. Or maybe a hoopsnake.

Yes, I don't know if he's much of a board user though. I've been on davidbowie.com for several years now and enjoy posting there. Used to have a blog until my students found it.
So, will have to catch up on a lot of reading in this place, but at the moment I'm mostly interested in planning what we're going to DO when we get to the U.S! I'm reading any post which has something to do with activities in LV during the AM. Signed up for one thing that looked very entertaining!
I've been to the US before, as a student, but he hasn't... so we're planning to get to LV and then up to Toronto, which I just loved. :) And then... any suggestions? Note, I will have to get home before Feb 1st!! :D

Hello,
Not exactly a new poster, I was one of the first to sign up when the JREF came into existence. I left the board for a while because I didn't like where things were headed, but it seems to be better now, so I'm back.
I'm not a sock puppet, I'm just a person who wants to be part of a forum that is not clique-ish and I also hated my former user name.

Hi, rebecca.
Certainly you mean discussing, right? :)
Oh well, we do both of it.
No juggling, though. People tended to drop the balls into the aquarium, so Linda forbid it. :)

Hello rebecca
Welcome to the forum. There's plenty here to browse through, on all sorts of subjects. Some of our posters even know what they're talking about sometimes!
:p ;)

Thanks for the welcome, guys. And no, I meant "cussing." "Dis"cussing is fun, too, but when cornered, the best defense is a well-placed invective. And also, I mostly juggle FLAMING balls, so dropping them in the aquarium is all part of the act.

Hello everybody!
I'm Gaga, writing from Venice, Italy. That means that I'll post when lot of the people of the board are asleep and that my english will eventually lead to some serious misunderstanding (thanks in advance for your patience)
I'm a 29 guy, quite on the skeptic side

Welcome, Gaga.
You will find there are quite a few Europeans here. We have people from the UK, from Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, The Netherlands, and so on. (Sorry if I forgot anyone).
Whilst it's mostly American, this is a 24 hour forum. We also have people from every continent apart, I think, from Antarctica!
We have folk from all walks of life - lawyers, scientists, teachers, writers, actors, policemen, postmen, doctors, composers, vets, the lot, so you will get an interesting slant on things.
It's also a great place to ask advice, and surprisingly a good place to share problems.
Welcome.
BTW, did you know in English slang someone who is gaga is senile?:D :D :D
Gaga
3rd May 2004, 06:25 AM
tim, thanks for the warm welcome!
re my nickname, actually I'm lucky that in english it means only senile... In other european languese ranges from immature to outright stupid :(
but i'm kinda fond of it since I've been draggin it around for the last 20 years
good to know there's always someone around at any time of day.

"gaga" means senile in Portuguese too. I think the word derives from French, but I'd have to check.
There's user "Luciano", he's Italian too.
My grandmother is Italian, and I have visited your country once. I was delighted, enthralled, knocked down by the beauty everywhere. Wow.
Anyway, welcome, gaga!

I think the word derives from the same routes as 'gargle', 'gargoyle', 'gorget' and even (believe it or not) 'gorgeous'. The derivative (which I forget right now...I think it is 'gorge'...or something like that) means 'throat'.
Or it could just be the noise babies make, hence the 'babbling madly' senility.
Anyway, welcome Gaga.

Thanks everybody,
I might say that the "gargoyle" explanation is new to me and interesting (forget about the "gorgeus" part :) ). Actually I never made a serious research about it, but I think that's probably an onomathopy (sp?).

Well, the gargoyle is the structure on the part of the building through which rain water drains (before they had downpipes). Often they were decorated, which is where we get the modern connotation of gargoyle from.
And 'gorgeous'...well, I guess anyone with a nice, exposed throat could be considered gorgeous. To a vampire...

I would like to REintroduce myself. I took a vacation from the Forum for a few months, but am back. It looks like I missed a lot! It's good to be back.
I'm from Phoenix, I am a small business owner, I have two dogs, I like long rides on my motorcycle, fine food, astronomy, Girl 6's avatar, and women that can think. Mmmmmmm . . . Skepchicks.
My next LIVE appearance will be at TAM3 as a very large and hairy wallflower. . . . . Make that wallweed.

Yes, Girl 6, that was me. It wasn't that I was too shy, it was just that at TAMII I didn't have a clue as to who any of you were because I wasn't a member of the Forum at that time. Hence, I missed out on the "hug for all the Forum members". I do remember seeing you too. Especially on the dance floor - Ha'cha'cha!
:jaw: . . . . . . . Okay, maybe I was too shy.
So at TAMIII I get TWO hugs, right? Hugs are great! Would I offend you if I picked you up for the hug? It's much easier on my back. ;) No dancing for me though. People get hurt and things get broken when a guy my size starts flailing around. Even if I CAN keep a beat, me and the Electric Slide go together like a room full of monkeys and mouse traps. It's a cruel joke, but if you survive the onslought, it's funny as hell.

Did you ever see the Addams Family (the movie)? Gomez and Fester danced the Mamushka. I think it's the one where you each hold the same rose in your mouth and you dance cheek to cheek with your arms out in front of you. I might even ahndle that one if you don't mind your legs dangling over the floor.

Oh yeah! I LOVE that scene! Sure, I can do that... I even have an appropriate black velvet body-hugging long dress for that! :D

LMAO!!!
No, no, no - you're confusing Tish and Gomez' dance in the second movie with the Mamushka - as performed with Gomez and Fester in the first movie. The second dance is the Tango - a very saucy dance, I must say - while the first involves a lot of knives and blades tossed about quite wildly.
Either way, what bliss...

Thanks Girl 6 for the welcome. Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I only get to the computer in short spurts of time when the baby is sleeping. With all of the hubub going on here lately that time has been spent reading and not posting so...
Hi to everyone again. Welcome to those I have missed!
Stu, I like your shoes. You're tall? Do you play basketball? Sorry, one of my best friends is 6ft9in and that's the second thing people always say to him. It drives him crazy. Not as crazy as the first thing most people say which is "Dude, you're tall" as if he didn't realize it. He's tall, I'm small. 5ft1in. We look pretty funny together.
rebecca, I'm not a very good spitter, I can't juggle, but I do cuss like a sailor (just not around the baby or my grandma ;)) and I just taught myself to knit a few weeks ago.
the Addams Family, Converse sneakers, peeps, whippets, high heels, poets, chocolate, wombat shaving...I think I'm going to get along here pretty well.

Welcome Andilina,
I feel your tall friends pain about the rediculous questions about height. I love the attention though so I never mind. It's always been a great ice-breaker. In my skinnier days I got the basketball question all the time. Quite a few pounds later it has evolved into the Football and Pro Wrestling question. When I start getting the Sumo question I will go on a diet.
Thanks for the compliment on my shoes. You can learn a little more about me and the "services" I am offering the Skepchicks at TAM3 from this link:

All in good fun of course. Are you going to TAM3?

Iam going to try to go but I have to see as the meeting gets closer. Right now the biggest issue is what to do about my daughter. She turns 2 in Oct so we would have to purchase a plane ticket for her and probably one for someone to babysit. I'm not sure who that would even be. My mom maybe if she could get the time off. We also have a trip to Hawaii we are trying to plan while the baby can still fly for free. There is a lot going on this summer/fall so I'll just have to see as time passes. I was married in vegas and would love to back.

Hi all. I'm Tom (that sounds, mentally at least, like I'm going to say "and I'm an alcoholic"). Nice to meet you all. I've been an atheist since I knew what one was (Catholic school and reading the Bible helped with that one) and also been quite heavily interested in medical ********: 'alternative', 'holistic' (unworking, crap).
Outside of that field, I am interested in politics in general, music, literature and lots of other things.
