Hi everyone. Thank you to the Moderators for approving my account. As you can see by my user name, I am interested in ufology. The UFOs I am interested in discussing are the ones that are believed to be of intelligent extraterrestrial origin. I am hoping to network in a genuine and constructive manner with believers and skeptics alike to separate fact from fiction in past and present sightings. I also look forward to participating in other topics from time to time.

j.r.
I have little interest in extraterrestrial life, regardless of my custom title. :) Since my workplace is often associated with aliens and UFO studies, I thought I'd have a bit of fun.

Welcome to the forum.

Hey everyone! I'm 28, female, currently live in Colorado, but grew up in Kansas. I've considered myself a skeptic for the last few years or so, though I used to believe in various silly things, including the catholicism I was raised with.

I have nowhere near 1,000 posts, but will soon have been to two TAMs. I went last year, and it was awesome (or should I say amazing?), and my recent last-minute decision to go this year is what prompted me to join the forum, since I'm going by myself this time and would like to meet people.

I got my username from a George Hrab song. I'm excited to see him at TAM this year!

Welcome to you too, remora.

Personally, I find cuttlefish to be fascinating.

Hi all, hope most of you accept this reject. I'm an ex-member of 3 truck forums, ex-members because I've been banned due to my skepticism and critical thinking when asking questions and/or posting my responses.

A lil about me:

I consider myself to be an effective communicator, one who understands the concept of constructive criticism and is open to receiving it.

My tittle may say "New Blood" but if anyone attempts to act like a donkey with me, please be forewarned, don't get offended if I ride you. Don't worry if I ever offend you, it would be my pleasure. :D

Thank you,

Leonardo
Welcome Leonardo. Never had a truck of any kind. I've mostly had VW subcompacts throughout my life, though I did once own a "72 Ford Mustang.

George is a great guy. I had the pleasure of spending time with him when he was on his Styrofoam tour.

Greetings!
I've been a skeptic for several years, and this year I'm finally going to TAM (mostly due to the presence of Neil deGrasse Tyson). I listen to several podcasts but haven't really interacted much. I figured I'd get on the forum to scope things out and possibly meet some people who are also going. I should, however, point out that I'm pretty introverted and don't have the best track record with keeping up with forums. But, I'm here for now, so, hello! :)

Hi Chad and welcome!

Look through and feel free to post in some of the threads in the TAM/skeptical events section of the forum (http://forums.randi.org/forumdisplay.php?f=10). As this year's TAM approaches, it's getting busy. It'll be my second TAM, and I can't wait. :)

Delighted to have found this site. My friend Libra turned me onto T.A.M. and we'll be attending our very first one this year!!! So excited!!!
I live in Branson, Missouri...the buckle of the bible belt, and being an Atheist, it's interesting to say the least. I started the Branson Freethinkers in September of last year and we're thriving!! The best analogy is "water to people dying in a desert".
I'm married to an amazing man and we have two incredible children. We'll ALL be attending T.A.M. next year together.
I'm very active in politics and have several issues that are near and dear to me. I became involved in the LGBT community over the last few years and give of my time and money to bring about needed evolution in that area here in the U.S. I'm also an 86% burn survivor and work within the burn community as well. I was born in 1964 and grew up very upset that I missed out on being a Hippy, but at 47, and with the world the way it is today, I feel like I've been given a second chance! Always up to bring attention to a cause and bring about change where I can!! Very anxious to meet many of you at T.A.M.!

[Record scratch]

Sorry, that's part of another project I'm working on.

The name is Chris and how I found this site took a lot of hours so I'll do my best to abridge it (previewing this post: I fail).

I'm a huge pro wrestling fan, 16 of 24 years, and frequent many blogs/websites about it. One post somehow involved half a line about 9/11 Truthers being incredibly cynical. A replier stated 9/11 was an inside job. I quickly grew enraged and replied, since the topic is incredibly sensitive to me as had my stepfather gone to work on time that morning he would have been at Merill Lynch, and I would have elected to hang out there rather than go to school (it was the second day of 9th grade for me).

Dude told me I needed to do my homework. I lived in Jersey City and could walk to transportation capable of taking me to Manhattan easily (less than a mile). I offered to take it off the boards, giving him my e-mail. No response yet. This was two weeks ago.

After 9/11 happened, I watched almost a week of non-stop coverage as almost every channel was covering it from my recollection. Long story short, it was incredibly poignant to even look at an image of either tower being struck from 2002-two weeks ago.

After moving back to North Carolina in 2004, my PTSD intensified. I had nightmares, and couldn't look at a clock when it was 9:11.

Back to the replier, he had nothing for me to consider and somehow annexed Hitler into the conversation. I could have let it go, but something compelled me to investigate, to finally conquer this fear I had of staring at those images and watching videos. After an hour of mental preparation, I spent 9 hours straight (I had the next day off from work so it was fine) watching Loose Change I and II, and also reading two different word by word breakdowns of the movies that ripped them up. I'm almost certain one of them was from Mark Roberts.

After that, I had enough to safely say I could hold my own should someone bring any part of 9/11 up.

However, since I recently got into a car accident and don't have a working vehicle for another week, I went on another all night binge starting late Sunday night and concluding an hour or so ago (with breaks obviously). Plus, it was raining like crazy and I can hear all the fireworks I want to since I live so close to the Fairgrounds.

I came to this site, sifted through maybe 250-275 pages of material (100 of which, I believe, came from Mr. Roberts where he quoted the filmmakers in public interviews), and viewed other conspiracy films that essentially regurgitated Loose Change's beliefs.

I was almost tempted to challenge a 9/11 YouTube inconsistency video from NuffRespect, but figured something far more constructive could be done with my time (as I've found through this site, arguing with conspiracy theorists wouldn't benefit me much). Plus, I figured I could get sleep if I opted to introduce myself here rather than get involved with dissecting those videos, as it could easily become 10 AM EST before I realized that I had been staring at the stuff for such a long period. Granted it takes medicine to make me sleepy, I could use some snooze having been up 39 hours.

I wanted to come here primarily to thank the folks in the 9/11 conspiracy section for their extensive work. It's impossible to read 300 pages of threads, but evidence collected has convinced me that most conversations would go much the same: evidence presented by you guys, no legitimate rebuttal from him/her, back and forth, insults, an exit stage left from him/her.

I'd love to join those who will attend the 10th anniversary, since I read a few pages of those who attended the 5th, but if I came across a CT, I'd likely get arrested for assault. I can't remain that composed just yet.

I still look at the day with a great amount of tragedy, as any sensible person would, but at least I can say this site has gone above and beyond giving me reassurance and knowledge that I can go about my life with one of my only fears thoroughly conquered and put to bed (which is where I need to be right about now).

So again, a big, big thank you. I'm sure in the future I'll come back as this is a very interesting and incredibly diverse community, but the purpose of this message was to give my story, save myself another sleepless night, and applaud those who work tirelessly to head smack all the 9/11 conspiracies.

-Chris

Welcome to the forums, FamilyGuyWoo! Very insightful post. I think a lot of us "bee-dunkers" have been where you have. I know I have suffered from depression over what happened that day, and feeling frustrated over how the truthers handle it. I'm past that now, and don't get roused up anymore. I sometimes post in the 9/11 CT forum, but not as much as I used to. Everything that gets posted there, has been posted time and again since 2006. Hope to catch you around and if you do go to Manhattan on 9/11 keep cool and focus on the ceremony and the people, not the truthers.

Hello everyone, just had my account validated. :) Have been lurking here for a while, and decided to sign up.

What about me then? I'm a 22 year old Swede, currently studying at university. As I gather that you get a lot of different people here, I'll tell that I'm among the skeptics, so I'm one of those bastards who try to base my beliefs on evidence, and not faith. Some people I like (in order of year of birth, not in likeability) are David Hume, Bertrand Russell, Carl Sagan and Richard Dawkins.

Hi Guys

I am not properly sceptic or a beliver.
I am considering myself an open minded person and my point of view can change during discussion.
Have no issues in admiting of bein wrong.

I am not conditioned by philosophy or religion and I am very hard to be conditioned by culture too.

For some reason I developped very strage sleeping patterns and due to experiments I am quite good in moving around thesis based on sleep/trans state which is often missunderstood as paranormal.

Orginally wanted to register to more philosophical, less sceptic forum for discussion purpose however I found it hard to discuss things with people religion or philosophy obsessed who are simply very selective in the subject of evidence and point of view.

As my 'handle' suggests I'm into the Bossburg incident, and have been since we acquired the Bigfoot collection of Robert Hewes, a friend of Ivan Marx the principal involved in the incident in 1969. The collection was purchased at his estate sale and contained original plaster casts of 'cripplefoot' even the hand prints. Lots of paperwork, books, old newspaper articles, etc. as well.
I'm 72 and have lots of old friends here who remember the incident and have lots of info and stories to tell.

Been quietly reading the forum for about 6 months now, love the atmosphere and topics. So, I thought I'd say hi and chip in on some conversations more often from now on.

I'm 25, from Estonia, but currently residing in Australia, Perth. I've studied Finno-Ugric languages, theology and philosophy, each of them for a year. So what this means is that I have some base level knowledge of them, but lacking serious in depth one. That's where you guys come in ;)

I'm a sceptic and an atheist, so my pet topics usually circle atheism vs theism debates. But any philosophical conundrum and mind gymnastics I would happily engage!

Is this where the Yard Sale is?

Hi newbs.... nice to see so many squirrels for the stew. We always get a couple of keepers around TAM Time (many sign up for a bit and/or for a bit of information and the fade out, but a goodly number of regulars come from the TAM and Skeptic Adventure times).

Welcome aboard. Kick of your moccasins and put your feet up on the coffee table. We don't mind. No, really. (Well, that Randi fellow might, but he's busy in Vegas, so go ahead and make yourselves at home.) There's a little something for everyone, but for a general flavor, drop in at the General Skepticism and Paranormal sub-forum. Ya gotcher Bigfeeters, yer UFOlogists, yer Amazing Amega Wand, just about every stripe of woo you could want.

If you want to catch the general population inmates in an informal setting, go stroll around Forum Community. And to answer one of the most common newbie enquiries, yes, you have to ratchet up a certain post count before you get rights to an avatar, a signature, or the ability to post links. Forum Community is a good place to waste a few bytes and get those posts up. (I highly recommend the Word Association thread. I mean, even you can come up with a one word post off the top of your head.)

Now, where's that Yard Sale? I was looking for some back issues of Squid Fishing Monthly.

Hi, I'd like to introduce myself. After attending TAM 9 I decided that it might be a good idea to finally join the JREF forum.
I'm a physiology PhD student living in Buffalo. I co-founded the campus group the "RIT Skeptics" in college, and I've been doing the Skeptic thing for quite a while.
I got my first taste in high school when I picked up a copy of The Truth About Uri Geller.

The Truth About Uri Geller was also my first introduction to skepticism. :)

I hope you enjoyed TAM 9. It was my second TAM, and I thought it was excellent.

It was great. Maybe if I start saving now I'll be able to make it out for TAM 10. A grad student stipend goes a lot farther in Buffalo than it does in Vegas.

Greetings,

Having returned from an excellent TAM9, I wanted to say hello here on the JREF forum.

For my day job, I work in microprocessor design at a major semiconductor company, although if I had been better (more intuitive) at math and physics, I might have been an astrophysicist (or at least that's what I told my parents when I was about eight years old).

I've been somewhat of a science geek all my life, but I can identify three key events that ultimately led me formally to identifying myself as a skeptic (and an atheist). First, I coincidentally caught part of a lecture by Steven Pinker on TV, and that led me to buy and read How The Brain Works. Second, I stood in the science section of a local bookstore and mostly on impulse picked up The Selfish Gene. (The name Richard Dawkins had not been on my radar before.) Finally, one day I wanted to listen to something other than TV while cleaning the house, so I found the The Skeptic's Guide to the Universe.

So here I am: Hello Everybody!

My work schedule may make it hard for me always to stay on top of what happens here, but I nevertheless hope to be able to add a constructive two cents from time to time.

hello everybody nice to meet you all - my name is martin im 29 from manchester here in the UK. im just starting my journey into magic now and im looking forward to it. i think itll help me answer questions but even better give me a different train of thought into asking other questions or dfferent out looks in life. i lost my dad when i was 8 and with that my mum often visited mediums etc and i was brought up around mumbo jumbo (i could think of other names but dont want to get banned that fast lol) it was only till last year that i stumbled across james randi on you tube and he changed my life.. when he lectures and you assume hes wearing glasses etc. he shows people can be fooled and there are people out there taking advantage, mediums, dowsers, believers in ghosts etc who use this to con people and take their money. my other heroes are penn & teller and hudini. and they are use their magical know how to call BS on these people and thats what i want to do with my magic. i want to bring people together learn and look at different ways of seeing the world and helping those who are in fear and believe in ghosts. because "pyschics" will charge an arm and a leg and they know this to clear the house of evil spirits - yeah right! so i want to better myself, consistantly challenge myself and then help others who are genuinly afraid of this mumbo jumbo ghost and psychics talking to the dead and clearing evil spirits nonsense :)

you will be pleased to know i emailed URI GELLER through his website called him a fraud and asked him to take the test otherwise he will always be known as a fraud.. hes not replied but i have printed the application form out if he ever does a book signing or whatever in my town i will give it him and call him on it. he even has on his website a statement saying david blane says he is "The real deal" how much longer can he get away with this BS????

Hi

I already opened my first thread (about peak oil claims, in the Science section) but here I am to say hello.

I have always been a scientifically minded person aka skeptic since I was a child. I don't know if my brain has an enhanced detection of nonsense or if I just think it does.

Professionally I am a linguist, specifically a translator of technical and other texts. It is curious how I came to be that.

When I was a kid I was fascinated with science and read many science magazines and also memorized country facts in the World Almanacs I had. I also loved cars.

I thought I would become either a physicist or some other hard-scientist but the unbearablly boring approach to physics and chemistry at school made me lose interest, so I turned to languages, and started learning many, and I saw linguistics is one of the most misunderstood and underestimated branches of science. Language is the operating system of the human mind and there are many many myths about language that maybe I can help dispell in this forum for you if you are interested.

Given that I never actually lost interest in general science and human sciences, my knowledge of languages made me a translator of technical and general materials.

BTW I am Brazilian and have always lived in Brazil, in a city not very far from Sao Paulo city. My mother language is, of course, Brazilian Portuguese.

Are there any other Brazilian forumers here?

Nice meeting you all!

Indeed an interesting story, and I believe you'll find your abilities called on quite frequenty. The meanings and origins of words seem to pervade almost all of the lengthier discussions that take place here, to the point of dominating many of them. The degree of fascination with this is variable but I'm sure you'll generally find a willing audience.

You have one already, after all. :)

Don't spend all your time in the Science sub-forum though. I'm not smart enough to play in there very often

Hi All,

I have recently returned from my first TAM and feel the need to get plugged in. It all started with the SGU...

Although I have been skeptical for as long as I can remember I first learned of "The Movement" when I was diagnosed as Type 2 diabetic about 4 years ago. I got myself an iPod to distract my mind whilst exercising and decided to try out some podcasts.

I make my home in Canada, but I am British.

I am an atheist of about 6.5 on the Dawkins Scale. I'm not sure when this happened. I know it had happened by 1986, but it might have been years earlier.

My academic background is in Physics, but I have been working in corporate IT for over 20 years. Skeptical thinking is a rare and powerful tool in the domain of IT support, where there is generally much magical thinking.

Hi, I'm Zarkizon.

I am new to the skeptical movement. I first heard about the JREF through a podcast called Skepticality, which had interviewed James Randi several times. I was curious about the whole deal of skepticism and I decided to join here.

I'm currently a college student studying IT and 3D Design.

Welcome Skeltor I will have some Goat cheese on the table next to the Goats milk for you.

I can't resist..........sorry about this, I mean this as just a joke, welcome to the forum.

The scene is the darkest jungle in Africa. Two tigers are stalking through the jungle when the one in the rear suddenly reaches out with his tongue and licks the butt of the one in front. The lead tiger turns and says, "Hey, cut it out, alright." The other tiger says sorry and they continue on their way.

After about five minutes the rear tiger suddenly repeats his action. The front tiger turns angrily and says," I said don't do that again!" The rear tiger says "sorry" again and they continue.

After about another five minutes, the rear tiger repeats his action. The front tiger turns and says, "What is it with you, anyway? I said to stop." The rear tiger says, "I really am sorry but I just ate a lawyer and I'm just trying to get the taste out of my mouth."

Hey, everybody. My name's Ed, I'm a 22 year old actor/writer/bartender and I've been a a skeptic since I entered college. I love comedy and science so I eventually ended up starting a site where I focused on just that, writing articles relating to common issues of the skeptical/pseudoscience world through the lens of a young, college aged comedian and skeptic.

I'm not trying to spam my site or anything, just wanted to give my background in the skeptical field. Thanks for taking me in guys.

It's really a pleasure to be on this forum. For quite sometime I have been investigating whether or not it was possible for any forum to cover science, technology, politics, and the paranormal. I think I've finally found home. I've been an atheist for the past 7 years. I am currently studying to become a Microsoft business analyst. I am taking the Microsoft 70-448 exam the 25th, this will be my third attempt, and this test is really hard! Other than that it's really a pleasure to find a place where I know people will be on the same level as me and we can have some good in-depth conversations.

Hello, all. I'm somewhat new to the forums - longtime lurker, firsttime poster. I first became aware of the JREF via debating certain individuals in the 9/11 Truth Movement. Searching the conversations here was a tremendous help in that exercise.

I'm not what you would call a typical skeptic, though. I have followed numerous spiritual paths over the years - from agnostic, to evangelical Christian, to neopagan, to agnostic, and to unaffiliated Christian. Perhaps the skeptic in me sees fluidity in that path, not committing in the way that many do.

But, I'm a researcher at heart and above all, I love to learn. I've studied topics across the board, from vampirism, to UFOs, to the Ark of the Covenant.

Who knows will be next?

Welcome, helen13.

I was new to skepticism about 40 years ago when I became an engineering student. It took me considerably longer to work my way to atheism, but I think it was worth the effort.

It's much harder to sit and ponder a god than it is to just accept that there is one because that's what you're taught. I decided that doing the work was worth it. Still have lots of work to do.

Hope you enjoy the forum.

hmm that's interesting, definitely a better idea to ponder a god than to believe what you're indoctrinated with. i still think - a god could exist --> but theoretically he would be scientifically explainable --> we exist, and we are theoretically scientifically explainable, why not a being/s that is larger and more powerful than us exist? anyway, thought that was interesting.

Well, there is the issue. There is no evidence of god(s), therefore not theoretically scientifically explainable.

Hello, I'm obviously quite new as I had forgotten that I signed up awhile ago but neglected to check my account approval status.

I've been to only the last 2 TAM events after many years of being a lax skeptic brought up in a family of Catholics.

I've become a bit more proactive as being a grown-ass adult has shown me that many people of my age and older never seem to out grow belief in "fairytales".

I'm mainly interested in reading the different forum topics, so I may not speak out much. I'm not overly fond of the archaic forum system and I'm pretty much a Twitter-er (PaprikaSu). I guess that makes me a lurker...

I'm personally interested in Astronomy, Animal Rescue and Science-Supported Medicine.

Thanks for having me! :)

Hello, everyone! I was directed here by one of Nick Terry's posts at RODOH, where I've lurked for some time but have yet to post. I'm an anti-revisionist but had no opinion on Bigfoot until I got here. :D

BTW, one thing I'm curious about re Bigfoot:The strongest argument against the existence of BigFoot seems to be the fact that remains have never been found and preserved. Given the number of sitings in areas like East Texas, you'd think someone would have come across a dead bigfoot, even if the live ones are afraid of humans. The bones would be so big that would stand out to anyone, even novice woodsman, so there's no excuse for mistaking them for a bear's remains. I'm curious about what the BFers have to say about this.

Hi everyone!

Whether I am atheist, a secularist, a Bright, a naturalist or even an agnostic (in the same way Richard Dawkins is a 6.9) depends on the context in which I asked the question, but you can guess my direction of travel. If I have to choose one, I generally use "humanist", as it seems to me to project a more positive outlook than some of the others.

I'm a fan of James Randi and the work of the JREF, along with the "Four Horsemen" and their fellow travellers. I write on a couple of forums, (maybe rather too much) and I'm looking forward to having a mooch around this one (though there are way too many to read them all!)

Hi, I am Arman

Registered a few days ago to correct a small mistake in an JREF-article about psychics and the events in Norway on the 22nd July. I think I may be using this forum in the future to learn how to counter the inevitable up-coming ‘theories’ from lunatics regarding those events. They have already begun, and they follow familiar lines from what we have seen with 9/11 and other similar events.

My primary language is Norwegian, but I’ll try to not let that show… ;)

I moderate (with others) the Norwegian forum for skeptics under the same nick. You’re welcome to stop by and say hello, though I fear our English section is down at the moment. If you need help leaving a message there, contact me.

By profession I am something in between a school teacher (primary and secondary level) and journalist. Currently unemployed due to illness. Atheist, and politically liberal (in the European sense of the word).

Hope to get to know you all! :)

PS. Oh, I’ve seen a ghost once, a UFO once and I have a friend who is a modern asatru (ie. She believes in Odin).
PPS. And I’m male and have no opinion on elevatorgate. Honestly.
PPPS. I see some of you have norwegian flags in your signatures - nice touch, for whatever reason. :)

Hi All, I am new here. I am British and a skeptic. I did my degree in physics and used to be a science teacher. Despite being a skeptic I accept that people have "supernatural experiences" they can not explain or understand and that these are not repeatable, be it seeing ghosts, experiencing poltergeist activity or thinking they were kidnapped by aliens. I think that is part of human nature and perhaps will never be proved or disproved.

I had a very Christian upbringing and I rebelled against that and I am anti-religious now. I have even been described by a major UFO nut-cult (Scientology) as an "anti-religious bigot". I used to be a member of this cult while I was seeking for answers to some strange experiences I had.

I am more tolerant of religions these days as I feel they fill a need in people but I think they should take second place in human lives. I particularly object to the financial advantages they get such as property tax rebates which shifts the burden of taxation on non-believers. To give an example in the UK, the Church of Scientology's London Ideal Org on 146 Queen Victoria Street in the City of London gets excused Ł270K per year in non-domestic property rates. That is money that could be collected from that building which would contribute to the community but instead they are excused it.

I am particularly interested in the abuses of the Scientology religion although I recognise that most if not all religions contain an element of abuse.

Hello everyone!

I'm a 21-year-old skeptic-in-training hailing from Finland.

I'm not exactly new to this forum; I have been lurking here for 3-4 years now, lol. Never got around registering before. I'm shy like that.

Anyways, I have mostly spent my time here reading the pinnacle of critical thinking and rational discussion, the Religion & Philosophy forum. Recently I have also tapped into the knowledge the Social Issues & Current Events forum has to offer about the workings of the world surrounding me.

I was initially drawn to this forum after learning some basic philosophy in high school (gymnasium in Finland). I was mainly interested in questions concerning gods, religion, materialism and idealism. The very elementary, yet, at least initially, profound stuff. My views on these issues have mainly been influenced by reading this forum, listening to Christopher Hitchens on Youtube/C-SPAN (well, he's a very entertaining speaker!) and reading the newest works of the Four Horsemen.

My username is a small tribute to Douglas Adams (may his faded consciousness rest in peace). I was somewhat surprised to find out that Zarquon was still available. Zarquon is a legendary prophet, who makes his overdue second coming just moments before the Universe ends. Go figure. Also an intergalactic swear word. Anyways, I read the Hitchhiker's trilogy when I was 12, and continue to read it to this day.

Sorry for rambling, but it's Saturday evening and Finnish beer tastes good! :)

(I usually make a profound intro post so I can safely go back to lurking for a while >.>)

A very warm welcome Tomas. I know that you have some truly great wines in Chile. My brother has brought some over when on holidays here from working in Uruguay.
Like most South American nations, corruption and incompetent politicians are to blame for your state of affairs.
And welcome to you too Zarquon.

Hola Tomás, bienvenido.

I met one of your fellow countrymen and long-time member here (Patricio Elicer (http://forums.randi.org/member.php?u=97)) at TAM this year, but he is from Santiago.

Hope your country is able to resolve the strike situation with a positive solution.

..... The bones would be so big that would stand out to anyone, even novice woodsman, so there's no excuse for mistaking them for a bear's remains. I'm curious about what the BFers have to say about this.

Sooooo, you won't believe in something unless you see the bones ?

Do you regularly come across piles of bones of all the things you do believe in ?

My name's Don. My friends call me "Hey you."

I'm thrilled to be here. There aren't many rational thinkers where I live. So, it's great to have this form of contact with other minds.

I'm not always able to respond to every point of every discussion, since most of my online activity is work related. But I'm still going to participate when I can. Just don't hate me if I'm unable to discuss anything on occasion...even the topics I myself might bring up.

Anyway, thanks again!

For the record, I am not a neo-Nazi.

I don't know if that's what it's associated with elsewhere, but up here Mjölnir pendants are closely associated to neo-Nazis, uber-nationalists, you get the picture.

There's a somewhat well-known Swedish punk song making fun of neo-Nazis starting with, "With a hammer around their necks...", as an example of how close those associations are.
