An annoying movie, and utterly devoid of valid science. Nevertheless, I've found myself caught up in a discussion of the film at another forum. I thought you all might find the discussion interesting and entertaining, and perhaps be inspired to participate.

I probably come across as a real A-hole during the discussion. That's probably because I am a real A-hole.

If anything, it makes it funnier.

Enjoy!:D

It's got to be difficult being a voice of reason.

In some quarters, it can be downright fatal!

Incidentally, one of the anti-vaccination movement leaders believes this movie is GREAT! It explains everything! About homeopathy, about vaccination, about kwontum-something-or-others, ... everything!

Thanks for that BronzeDog, I had read the review but not the comments, one of which led me to this great article by the Guardian (http://film.guardian.co.uk/features/featurepages/0,4120,1484925,00.html) where four scientists (including Dawkins) give their comments.

A few of my friends (including the girlfriend of my biochemist friend) like this movie. I haven't seen it, but have only heard bad things about it. Biting my tongue is hard, and I'm tempted to watch it just so I can give it a valid analysis and not just parrot. Is it really worth it?

It has some impressive VFX sequences... it's pretty boring though.

Just say you watched it. Everyone's analysis pretty much covers the highlights, you won't learn any more from watching the movie than you will from hearing us tell you about it or reading skeptical reviews.

From that Guardian article I linked earlier:

Take my advice and do not see this film. I repeat, do not see this film. I repeat again, do not see this film. If you do, then you will leave the cinema misinformed, £8 poorer and having wasted two hours of your life.

From that Guardian article I linked earlier:

Movies cost 8 pounds in Britain? WOW! And I thought $7.50 was steep.
Advice taken. Thank you all.
