The show is called "Medium". They are "using" the late Rod Serling to introduce this episode.

I have not seen this show. Are they actually claiming that this person works with police as a "Forensic Psychic"? Patricia Arquette? LOL. They're handing out 3D glasses for this episode...

The most novel element of the broadcast for those viewers without glasses, perhaps, will be the 45-second opening sequence in which Sterling is "reanimated" in an altered film clip taken from "The Twilight Zone," the often-creepy sci-fi anthology he hosted on CBS during the 1960s.

Caron said the black-and-white clip of the master of irony is being incorporated into next week's "Medium" courtesy of Serling's estate and his wife, Carol. The playwright and producer died in 1975 at age 50.
"It's very flattering to be allowed to do this, to use his image and take advantage of the extraordinary legacy that he has," Caron said.
I'll bet. Does she need the money? I hate it when they edit/alter clips with dead people to sell a product. Anyone remember the commercial with the late John Wayne selling beer? They superimposed a Coors (I think) in his hand and everything. Sick.

"Medium," which debuted last season, is one of the few bright spots on NBC's schedule as the network seeks to reverse a ratings slump. The show averaged more than 12 million viewers a week so far this season, ranking in the top 20 among all scripted series in prime time.

The drama is based on the experiences of real-life forensic psychic Allison DuBois, played by Arquette, who helps police solve crimes through her ability to commune with the dead.
So are they passing this show off as "real life" or is it just a drama? First John Edward, now this? And this is their best show?

I don't know what upsets me more, them using Rod Serling, his wife letting them, or the popularity of the show itself.

I'm gonna go sit in the corner and pout for awhile.

Forgive me if this has been posted elsewhere but it's just too funny to miss.

I'm sure most JREFers have seen the 2% Company's rants (http://www.twopercentco.com/rants/allison_dubois_week.html) about Ms DuBois from their "Allison DuBois" week back in March but they have a recent rant about her behaviour in recent episodes of "Medium" and on her website.

Now I have to admit that Allison may not bear any resposibility for the antics of her on-screen analog, if fact it may even be that the producers of "Medium" are poking a bit of fun at her though it's doubtful that the majority of viewers would "get it", but her real-life behaviour is every bit as hypocritical. As pointed out in the 2% rant she is now distancing herself from Dr Gary Schwartz (http://www.allisondubois.com/news.html). Why? Because the man has the unmitigated gall to attempt to profit from their relationship. Scandalous! The nerve of the man!

Are we picking on Allison? Absolutely, and as far as we're concerned, she's earned every bit of it. Not only is her pathetic "psychic" carny act indistinguishable from the host of phonies, con artists, and assorted cold and hot readers on the market today, she also seems to have an insatiable need to ***** all over everyone else for doing exactly what she does. So not only is she a world-class bullsh!t artist, she's also a monumental hypocrite.

The best part (and the funniest) is that her own show clearly spells out the "unmistakable marks by which you may know, wheresoever you go, the warranted genuine" charlatan.

Thank you for not only confirming my fears, but compounding them. The inherent capacity for self-delusion in human beings both fascinates and frightens me.

Perhaps the ability to delude oneself is a sort of survival skill. Certain things come to mind...religion, love, happiness, contentedness. The ability to delude ourselves may, at times, aid us in preserving our sanity.

:yikes:
