I was wondering if anyone had any information about the coup that did not happen because the Russian citizens stopped the tanks and military from the overthrow. I had a professor talk about this and I wanted some more info. or books about it.
Thanks.

Are you referring to the attempt of coup in August 1991. I have read one book in English (I'm an Estonian myself) that somewhat describes this event: Michael Dobbs's "Down With Big Brother".

There is another book I read years ago about it.
I am sorry I can not remember the author. It was called, "Lenin's Tomb."
It was about the breakup of the Soviet Union, but it gave a lot of attention to that coup.

I have always heard that the coup was just preplanned to give the impression of a coup.
That it was a show for the worlds media.
