This is just pathetic, a word meaning "worthy of pity". :(

Parishoners first noticed the tears of blood on Wednesday. But fearing they were put there by pranksters, a priest here wiped the statue clean, only to have those tears return over the weekend.
So somebody paints tears on it, they wipe them off, somebody comes back and paints more tears. And it doesn't occur to anyone to test the stuff to see if it's paint, they simply buck it upstairs to the Archdiocese.

What's pathetic is that people are so hungry to believe that they will deliberately ignore in-your-face common sense. :(

Now you are just wrong! I have witness this paranormal effect and it sure isn't pranks. I have seen perfectly clean walls becoming filled with messages over night. And then the owners paint it over and just the next day new messages appear.

You know, dust collects on things. It's most likely to collect in nooks and crannys and blow off smooth surfaces. On a statue the lower eyelid is perfect for collecting dust. If there is moisture present in enough quantities to run down due to gravity then it will be clear and normal on the smooth surfaces and pick up some of the dust in the nooks and crannies, i.e. the lower eyelid, and look dirty running down. You don't notice this as you look around at mundane things but it shows up on a white or light colored statue.

If you visit my web page you'll see I photograph a lot of cemetery stones and if you look closely you see dirty trails running down under the letters. I guess when this happens on letters it's normal but when it happens on eyes it's tears of blood, or whatever. Unless the letters are crying blood, but I've never taken a sample.
