The probable site of the new N Ireland national stadium, Maze prison (better known to the world as H-Blocks, location of the hunger strikes), is being visited by Ross Perot's company with a view to investing there.

I, for one, welcome our new American overlords. :p

Never understood this one. Overcrowding (apparently) in our prisons - we have a perfectly fine one (I assume) so we close it down.

That makes sense to me.

Overcrowding?

We fixed that by saying:
"Look lads, it was all a big misunderstanding. Why don't you all just go home? But you must promise never to be naughty again."

Prisoner - "I can't promise that"

"Well...just go home anyway"

:boggled:

That's a bit of an unfair summary:

"Look lads, it was all a big misunderstanding. Why don't you all just go home? But you must promise never to be naughty again."

Prisoner - "I can't promise that"

"Well...just go home anyway. Hold on a moment you've forgotten your get-out-of-jail-in-future card."

I just think it's funny that they're planning to put a "International Centre for Conflict Transformation" next to a football pitch, or field, or whatever youse guys call it over there.

1. Shipping people over to Irland would be expensive
2. Shutting the place down is a mjor political statement.

Physically it may be perfectly fine, but it carries a lot of political baggage. It would be a bit like the French reopening the Bastille.

Doubt it would be significantly more then normal and don't they need prisons in NI?

Yep it is.

So they build a national stadium on it...

Not any more! Not since we let out all the thugs, psychos, murderers and extortionists.

We only need jails now for the people who don't pay their TV license.

Although now we've got those bloodsucking bastids off the streets I sleep safer at night.
