Women and Urban life Article by Prof Lynda Nead (http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/lj/victorian_britainlj/women_urban1.shtml?site=history_society_welfare)

The idea of femininity was encapsulated in the idea of the 'woman's mission' but, as Lynda Nead shows, the moral health of the empire could no longer afford to rely on the passive behaviour of its women. They were ready to take to the streets and live an independent life

Question:- Victorian stereotypical views on how women should be that are still held by the powers that be and still wanting to pigeon women into, should they be by now updated to how women are today and not in some age gone by?

The moral health of the nation and its empire depended on the moral purity of its women.

Question:- Stereotypical categorisation of women made to make women stay at home and be pigeon holed into the psychological profiled ideal held via governments. Women married and at home. On the other hand, are they simply stating that if women are or have become corrupt then the health of the nations will fail and fall? Statements saying simply women are essential elements in running the world ?

Are prostitutes still held in the Victorian view as a symbol to a city's/womans degradation into squalor and diseased morality or a service that is needed and should be not only regulated but legalised and properly monitored.

All Prostitutes charge for their services, in one way or another(bartering included)

It is promiscuous women that do it for free.

I in some degree see what you mean LuxFerum, but they are classed as the ex wives/husbands/partners working with or without the lawyers/solicitors to fleece you for payment for some misdemeanour they blame upon you entirely, or the IRS/Tax-men in conjunction with the above or working entirely on their own. That they do indeed work out to be expensive "prostitutes", they just come for their money at a later date. :D
