I resolve to keep in contact with people better than before.

You see, I know people who want to talk to me. Thing is, they are either too uncommunicative, lazy, or too knowingly or unknowingly arrogant (eg. if he wants to stay in touch, then he'll have to be the one who shows he needs me more than I need him) to put forth the effort to stay in touch. So I resolve to get over my pride and communicate with people I know would like to communicate with me--whether they are lazy, arrogant, or generally uncommunicative. I think its for the best. :)

Anyone want to share an NYR?

No, we're just testing your resolve toward YOUR NYR.

A few years ago, I resolved to give up making resolutions at New Years. I never kept them. Ironically, this is the one I kept. Kind of like when I gave up Lent.

Last year I resolved to get healthier. Note that every year I resolve to lose weight, exercise, etc., but this time was different because I had sat by my brilliant brother's bedside as he died of brain cancer.

In the past year I have lost 28 pounds (need to lose another 15 to reach my goal). I joined a gym, then in a totally unrelated manner injured my neck. I was only allowed to return in late December. I did actually return and have worked out twice. I got retrained today, since I cannot do a lot of stuff because of the neck thing.

I have been taking the stairs instead of the elevator for the past month. I can now go up one flight of stairs without panting and shaking.

I went clothes shopping today and discovered I now wear a size 12. The last time I went clothes shopping (aside from online), I was a size 16.

I will be having my cholesterol and blood sugar tested in February at my checkup. I skipped last year because I was still in shell shock, but the year before I was borderline Type II Diabetes and my cholesterol was over 300.

For the first time in my life, I'm looking forward to my doctor's face when I walk in the door.

Sorry to hear about your brother. :(

My goals this year are to:

Lose 20 lbs by March 1st.
Learn the first 15 moves of my taijiquan sword form

I resolve to fall helplessly, moronically and unthoughtfully in love with some woman and let her completely, utterly and irreversibly destroy me emotionally, intellectually and financially.

I'm going to start back doing the daily things I flaked on in the last three months of this year. Like updating my work blog, recording my medical info every morning, riding my bike every day, and practicing piano and guitar.

I resolve to:
Lose another 8 pounds by summer.
Return to doing my hobbies - to find a choir or a band to sing in, and to do more arts and chrafts.
To try and write more (and yes, I even mean to write longer posts here at JREF) as i am suffering from a sort of permanent writing block - I need to be less timid and not worry too much about how people will judge what I say.
