If you said depends on the circumstances please elaborate.

Tony, you have to post a poll with your first post before you post it. It is an option at the bottom. I cannot edit your post for a poll, maybe Hal could. I hope you don't mind me posting the poll for you.

Well, while I'm not Tony, I'll put my two sense worth in.

I think it does depend on the circumstances. If circumstances are tending towards a situation which outways a human life (perhaps multiple human lives, where the suffering of a few is comparable to the suffering of many, IMHO), and the only option it to remove the threat through killing, then I feel it is 'right'.

Who decides this?

That's another thing altogether, and why I maintain that my belief is purely philosophical and not a practical idea.

tHANX Denise :)

I think it depends on the circumstances. Killing is ok if it is in the defence of yourself or another person, in combat, punishment for a crime or possibly for revenge.

Revenge?

Well, I guess that is the view of much of the western world. Eye for an eye, eh?

The problem with this is the fact that few ever kill without justifying it first. In other words, somebody murders as a response to a cause that is to them worth murdering. So taking vengeance is no better than their act. It is subjective and without any postive outcome, other than satisfying a primal urge.

This is part of the problem with present world military actions. Afghanistan was based on revenge, and has done little for the people of that country. The middle-east conflict is an ongoing saga where each 'eye-for-an-eye' action encourages another.

So revenge, for me, is by far no reason to kill. If a man killed my mother I would want him removed as a threat. Would I want him dead - yes. Would I want him killed - no. Because then I would be no different.

If killing is wrong, then I don't want to be right!

Urmmm... wait... Forget I said that.

Seriously. You can't prove anything. Besides, they all asked for it. Even the midget. Especially the midget

Never mind. Just forget I said anything. Killing's bad, mmkay?
