When gathering together in gigantic, democratic (little 'd') masses, to extend control over people's lives with respect to religion, and forcing them to follow your religion, how do you know your religion is right?

There is only one true religion.

Duh, it says so in the Bible!

Simple. It's the same reason they say "faith" instead of "proof."

how do you know your religion is right?I don't. However, my religion doesn't claim to be right because it doesn't define any answers. Unitarianism is a heretical, non-creedal church that promotes the search for truths over dictating what those truths are. It isn't exactly applying the scientific method to spiritual beliefs, but it is sort of self-correcting (on an individual level) becuase it is a never ending process.

I'm a Christian (Lutheran to be precise) but I have no idea if my religion is right. But it is right for me.

Good point. I would challenge the presumption that religion inherently means you must control other peoples lives and force them to follow your beliefs.

I am, of course, cynically parodying the "How do you know your politics are correct?" thread, to suggest the obvious parallels.

I hear that when you guys want to intimidate you go out and have a question-mark burning! Is this true?

That's the best answer anyone can give.
