US moving troops out of Saudi Arabia

This caught me a little by surprise. I guess at the end of the day the key reason is that, now with Iraq under US military control, Saudi Arabia simply isn' t strategically as beneficial as it use to be, but I wonder about various political motivations for why this was done. Anyone have any ideas or comments about this move?

It gets the radical Islamists to stop complaining about soiling their Holy Land even though the base is quite a ways away from Mecca and they don't recognize secular national borders anyway.
