At least some times. This time with the People's Mujahedeen.

Listen to the story here (http://discover.npr.org/features/feature.jhtml?wfId=1247167).

Does the US always have to make these icky alliances only to have them turn around and bite us in the ass? It's bad enough to make such absolute statements about never dealing with terrorists, etc only to find that terrorists (and equally unsavory characters) can sometimes do their dirty deeds to our benefit.

I understand the pragmatism of at least looking the other way in some situations. But this sort of thing also encouraged the likes of Hussein and Bin Laden. Not to mention blurring the moral high ground we like to invoke.

The U.S. cease-fire with an Iranian exile group it considers a terrorist organization allows the Mujahedeen Khalq to defend itself from Iranian-sponsored attacks and keep its artillery and other weapons, U.S. military officials said Tuesday.

*cough!* artillery? Man, the US's ass is going to hurt after those guys turn against us.

Now, if I remember correctly, this sort of situation is called hipocrisy? Or is it Irony?

And of course the worst in recent history. US government giving the Taliban $43 million in May 2001 as a reward for a Taliban edict banning the cultivation of opium poppies.

The federal government has had such a mad on about drugs, and still does. Is it just a lust for power knowing that it is impossible to win the war on drugs?

Here's another link with more examples how the drug war funds terrorism just like the profits from illegal drugs fund terrorism.

George Bush has taken tea with Sinn Fein leaders in Belfast who not only are anti-war in Iraq but also either were admitted leaders of the IRA or accused of being leaders of the IRA when a catholic mother was executed by the IRA (then her body thrown away so that he children didn't even have that for themselves) for having the cheek to try to help a british soldier shot by the self same IRA as he tried to keep the peace in Niorthern Ireland.

As of today the IRA - as respresented by Sinn Fein - have not surrendered their weapons stashes, which still threaten terror on the people of Northern Ireland.

It appears that it is not a war on terror (WOT) but a war on the 'terrorists' Bush doesn't drink with (WOT'T'BDDW). Who does he think he's kidding?
