I want to edit the source html code for an email I want to send out. It's been a billion years since I've done this, so I'm not quite sure how to edit the code in Outlook 2003. In older versions, there was a little source tab at the bottom of the email that I could use to edit.
Anyone know how to get to the source edit in Outlook 2003? (The help section was useless)

As you say, Upchurch, there used to be a tab in Outlook express that allowed you to edit the html. There is no such feature in Outlook 2003.
The only way I can think of to do this is to:
Compose the HTML file in an editor.
Open a new email message, using HTML formatting. Go to insert, file. Select the html file you wish to use, then where the button says insert, click the down arrow next to it and select the option for 'insert as text'. Remember that Outlook does strange things to html formatting.

Friends don't let friends do Outlook. Usually people are in denial, they only do "a few emails a day", Outlook's fine for that, they can handle it. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

The correct solution is to put the HTML on a webpage and e mail everyone a link. Not every parses HTML with their mail reader, you know.

Been doing a little searching on this, and here's the best advice I can find:
Outlook 2002 provides yet another method: Simply use Word as your e-mail editor (Tools | Options | Mail Format). WordMail in Office XP is much better than in previous versions. You can use all the Word composition tools and choose whether to send the message in plain text, HTML or RTF format. With WordMail as your editor, you can also edit the HTML source directly if you have the Web Scripting component from Office XP installed. You must add the HTML Source command to your toolbar (View | Toolbars | Customize). Normally, Word does not display this command unless you are editing an .htm file. I have tried this method only in Office XP, but it might also work in Office 2000.
from http://www.slipstick.com/mail1/html.htm . Sorry, doesn't look like the ability to directly edit source code is in Outlook anymore.

You can add the view source button into Outlook 2003.
Open a new email. Make sure the curser is in the body of the email.
Right click on the toolbar and select "Customize"
Click the Commands tab.
Highlight "View" on the left, and look for "HTML source" on the right.
Click and drag HTML Source into you email toolbar.
Yes, yes, I am awesome. Please, don't grovel. Really, cash gifts are not necessary...

That'll let you view the source code, but Upchurch was asking about the ability to edit same.

Hmmm.... I tried and it looked like it saved the change, but it really didn't. Could be something spacey with our version - my employer has a habit of fiddling with the software before releasing it to the peons.

I dunno, but I opened the HTML source view and, just as a test, changed the text font size. It immediately reflected the change in the actual email window (not the source window). When I closed the source window, the email was still modified properly.
Admittedly, I didn't try to get too happy with the HTML...perhaps it limits the type of changes you can make?
