Although the story talks about them being treated at "leading homoeopathic clinics" that's all it actually says about the treatment. Homoeopathy often gets lumped together with other types of SCAM, such as herbalism or (especially in India) ayurveda, so I am quite prepared to believe that they were not actually being treated with homoeopathy. There have certainly been cases (http://www.mhra.gov.uk/home/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=433&within=Yes&keywords=ayurvedic) in the UK in which heavy metals have been found in ayurvedic medicines.
But why the shock? If these people gave a damn about their patients they wouldn't be selling them sugar pills and pretending they're medicine.

The followup article does talk more about ayurvedic medicine than homeopathy. However, there have been earlier cases of "Homeopathic" medicines with high levels of steroids.
Dont even get me started on "Siddha" where dangerous doses of heavy metals are a routine part of the treatment.
I'm not so much shocked as sickened.
