>THOUGH SHE'S BEEN DEAD AND HAS JUST BEEN LOCATED, AFTER 5 YEARS, THIS WOMAN
>CONTINUES TO HAUNT US FROM HER SHALLOW GRAVE.
>
>
>CBS will be forced to discontinue "Touched by an Angel" for using the word
>"God" in every program. Madeline Murray O'Hare, an atheist, successfully
>managed to eliminate the use of Bible reading from public schools a few
>years ago.
>
>Now her organization has been granted a Federal Hearing on the same
>subject by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) in Washington, DC.
>
>Their petition, Number 2493, would ultimately pave the way to stop the
>reading of the gospel our Lord and Savior, on the airwaves of America. They
>got 287,000 signatures to back their stand! If this attempt is successful,

>all Sunday worship services being broadcast on the radio or by television

>will be stopped. This group is also campaigning to remove all Christmas
>programs and Christmas carols from public schools!!
>
>You, as a Christian, can help! We are praying for at least 1 million
>signatures. This would defeat their effort and show that there are many
>Christians alive, well and concerned about our country.
>
>As Christians, we must unite on this. Please don't take this lightly.
>
>We ignored this woman once and lost prayer in our schools and in the
>offices across the nation. Please stand up for your religious freedom and
>let your voice be heard. Together we can make a difference in our country
>while creating an opportunity for the lost to know the Lord.
>
>Please press "forward" and only delete out what is not needed, and forward
>this to everyone on your list.
>

>Now, please sign your name at the bottom (you can only add your name after

>you have pressed the "forward"). Don't delete anything, just go to the next
>number and type your name. Please do not sign jointly, such as Mr. & Mrs Each
>person should sign his/her own name.
>
>Please e-mail this to everyone you know and help us defeat this
>organization and keep the right of our freedom of religion.
>
>When the list reaches 1,000 please e-mail back to Lisa Norman.

It’s an urban legend.

What’s really sad though is that people seem to believe it and keep adding their names and forwarding the message.

Ossai beat to to it. This is an urban legend and O'Haire is dead anyway.

I have had a few acquaintances send me similiar religious BS over email before. I hit reply to all with some really raunchy nasty jokes, they learn not to send me such stuff quickly. Xians are just more likely to be stupid, just like the Harry Potter "Evidince" found in a news story that was forwarded to all the fundomorons, it turned out to be a parody story from theonion.com. I guess since a lot of other groups in America practice woe is me hyperbole victimhood (racial orgs, evirowhacky orgs, AIDS orgs, women orgs whose only thing left to protest is a silly golf game) and gain a lot of power and money from it. The xians want to get in on it too and have some thinly vieled repression to fight against. Chicken little is alive and well in the hearts and minds of billions of stupid people.

Thank you for posting the entire list of people who can kick your ass at chess. You can add my name to the list also.

I get all kinds of crap similar to this one through my email. It annoys me. I usually delete it, but sometimes I respond back to the person who forwarded and politely tell then it's nonsense or just something I don't agree with.

This following one was sent to me not a long ago by a good friend.......... of all people ......

"Today was 9/11/02, and while in Tyler, we decided to eat at Golden Corral. We don't eat there often, but have been there many, many times since it first opened years ago. As we were leaving, we noticed the windows decorated with patriotic colors and one picture of Uncle Sam with his finger pointing just like we remember from WW2 posters. The inscription read, "Bless America." When we got home, after stewing
about this half the way, I called Golden Corral and asked to speak to the manager.

He came to the phone and the conversation went something like this......

"My husband and I ate at your place today, and as we were leaving we noticed the sign that said 'Bless America'. I wondered why you omitted the word God from the familiar saying."

"Why I put God Bless America?"

"No, why you OMITTED the word God."

"Well, I didn't put God's name up there because some people might be offended by it."

"What about those of us who are terribly offended that you omit God's name? Without God, we have no blessings. When you omit His name, you offend an awful lot of people."

"Well, what about those people who would be offended if I put God's name in there? It's not necessarily how I feel about it, but that's the way I have to do it to keep from offending people."

"Well, sir, you have offended me, you have offended God, and I'm sure you have offended many, many others. We have enjoyed eating in your establishment many times, but we have eaten our last meal there. When you stand against God, I will not put money in your pocket again."

"But, lady, we are a corporation, and I have to do what the corporation says."

I answered one last time, "Then if that's the way your corporation feels, I feel it my duty to tell as many of my friends as I can about it. I won't be back, and I'm taking as many of my friends and family with me as I can." End of conversation.

We sat around thinking one woman could not get prayer taken out of our schools .......... but she did! We cannot allow God to be taken out of our country!!!!! Please stand up for God, let these people, regardless of what business it may be, that you will not support anyone who omits God from our pledge, our money, our lives!!!!!! ONLY GOD CAN BLESS OUR NATION!!!! Golden Corral can pass out food, but they cannot pass out blessings and I hope you join with me in letting our business, our lawmakers and our nation, that we won't stand for turning our backs on our Creator! If you feel the same way I do, please let others know.

Sincerely,
J A

My husband and a dear friend of ours responded back to this email....they did one of those "reply to all". One of the things said in the reply was "Is the boycott a new witnessing tactic I just haven't heard of? If all Christians follow this person's advice, how will the people at Golden Corral ever come to see anything any differently?"

Anyhow, I think my friend was upset by the replies. She emailed back saying someone else had forwarded it to her and she sent it out as she thought it "interesting". She insisted she was not encouraging anyone to boycott the restaurant. We all live close enough to it to do that if we wanted.

There was no way I would boycott and I resented the email. I was not angry at my friend....I thought she was a sort of innocent pawn. She tends to send out a lot of nonsense emails...real urban legend stuff.

I don't like emails that want you to add your name on a list, and I get really peeved at emails that say "I prayed for you today" and ask you to send it to at least ten people you love to let them know you prayed for them. They always end up deleted.

I have been in trouble twice by responding to aggravating emails by using the "reply to all" function. Once was because a girl from my church was sending out an email to everyone with a joke that really made fun of some Asians inability to pronounce certain words. We have a very sweet Asian girl in our church who cannot speak perfect English and I felt very concerned the email would get forwarded to her too. I guess I overreacted, but I asked everyone in the forward list to be careful about who they sent it to as I thought it was a bigoted joke.

The main person who had emailed it to me was very upset with me. They sent me an email chastising me for sending the reply to everyone in their mailing list. Most of the people in her mailing list were my friends. I wanted them to see my response. I did not want any of them to send that joke out.

Anyhow, the main person who sent that email to me has never sent another email to me again. She used to send gobs of forwards, so it's sort of a blessing not to hear from her, but I hate it if I offended her. I purposely went to talk to her at church to make sure she was not upset, and she was very nice to me, so I am assuming all is well, or she is secretly harboring disgust.

Then I turned around a few months later and did the same thing again when I received this email...> "In light of the many perversions and jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke, it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking. Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her "How could God let something like this happen?" (regarding the attacks on Sept. 11).Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said "I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect
God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?" In light of recent events...terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found recently) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school ... the Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK. Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave
because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said OK. Then someone said teachers and principals better not discipline our children when they
misbehave. The school administrators said no faculty member in this school better touch a student when they misbehave because we don't want any bad publicity, and we surely don't want to be sued (there's a big difference between disciplining, touching, beating, smacking, humiliating, kicking, etc.). And we said OK.

Then someone said, let's let our daughters have abortions if they want, and they won't even have to tell their parents. And we said OK. Then some wise school board member said,
since boys will be boys and they're going to do it anyway, let's give our sons all the condoms they want so they can have all the fun they desire, and we won't have to tell their parents they got them at school. And we said OK.

Then some of our top elected officials said it doesn't matter what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. Agreeing with them, we said it doesn't matter to me what anyone, including the President, does in private as long as I have a job and the economy is good.

Then someone said let's print magazines with pictures of nude women and call it wholesome, down-to-earth appreciation for the beauty of the female body. And we said OK.

And then someone else took that
appreciation a step further and published pictures of nude children and then further again by making them available on the Internet. And we said OK, they're entitled to free speech.

Then the entertainment industry said, let's make TV shows and movies that promote profanity, violence, and illicit sex. Let's record music that encourages rape, drugs, murder, suicide, and satanic themes. And we said it's just entertainment,
it has no adverse effect, nobody takes it seriously anyway, so go right ahead. Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with "WE REAP WHAT WE SOW."

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says.

Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in
the school and workplace.

Are you laughing?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they WILL think of you for sending it. Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit. If not then just discard it... no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in! You must invite God into your presence if you want him to be there for you!"

This email really ticked me off so I sent this reply.."reply to all" again. ......." I am unsure how the speech first came into circulation, but it is not the actual words that Anne Graham said.....at least as far as I can find out through investigating the web. Although she did say some of the things in the interview...most are not a part of it.

Click here to read the real interview http://www.cbsnews.com/earlyshow/healthwatch/healthnews/20010913terror_spiritual.shtml

I totally disagree with Anne Graham and her opinion that "And God, who is a gentleman, has just quietly backed out of our national and political life, our public life. Removing his hand of blessing and protection. ". I really wish she would not speak for God like that. However, perhaps God has backed out since so many dear Christians suffer and die with illnesses, and so many disasters happen. But if we must believe this, then we must likewise believe that God no longer heals, delivers, and takes care of us. There was much done in the way of charity and sacrifice to help after 9/11. No matter what, the love of God lives on in a strong way. There was so much love, sacrifice, and aid that came after 9/11.

The rest of Anne's interview was pretty good. That is, the real speech.

This speech (that was emailed) is awful and ludicrous.

Once again, I upset another one of my friends. She complained to me about the fact I sent it to everyone in her forward mailing list. I felt bad, but stood by what I had wrote. She still continues to email me and we talk at church...when I am there. I am not ever going to "reply to all" again. I fear that I have already given myself a reputation for it.
