View Full Version : the returning jedi competition.

The prize for this competition is $1.00 Australian. The winner can PM me a post office box or other contact point and I will post the prizemoney.

The competition is to predict when Jedi Knight will return and what excuse he will use for (yet again) not staying away when he does a storm out.....

I am the sole judge on who wins, I am open to corrupt dealings.
Jedi's official departure is judged to be 05/05/03 05:38AM with a post that simply said"Cya"......

My own prediction (yes, I CAN enter my own competition) is that he will be away for 36 hours and the excuse for his return is that he was asked to return by other members in PMs. This is a fairly safe bet because that was the excuse for the last theatrical exit.

I guess I wasn't aware that he'd achieved the magic 100 in his vote me off the island thread.

It'd be sort of boring for him to come back as JK though. Maybe a whole new username?

He didn't make 100. That requirement was getting in the way of his theatrical storm out show so he dropped the votes required a number of times until they matched the number of votes he had..

I, however, was not willing to drop the requirements for my naked laps of the whitehouse because I suspect people here are evil enough to scratch up 100 votes:D

I get the feeling he has found somewhere else he enjoys more. He was very quiet during the war, maybe he has found a board with some fellow believers on it.

Shouldn’t you wait for him to actually leave first?
I didn’t see the announcement saying he was posting his last message.

After announcing he was leaving he made a post that simply said "cya all" and he logged of. For the purposes of this competition I am taking that as his exit point. If he comes back claiming he has "not actually left yet" then I would probably pay the prizemony to the poster that came closest to the return time, that is unless someone got the excuse "I have not really left yet" absolutely correct. If someone managed that I would probably judge them the winner.

Can I put you down as predicting "I have not really left yet" will be his excuse? It may win you the fabulous cash prize.....:)

Fool,

What's the number on the naked run? If it's still on, count my vote, too. "Just Do It, Fool!"

I'm sorry to see Jedi go. He was a staple of my JREF day. But since there's money at stake, I bet he'll be back in a week (5/12/03, 5:30 AM). The reason will be that he's decided not to compromise with communism after all and that the original 100 votes was never met.

Sorry shuize I cannot accept that as a valid vote in the "laps of the whitehouse" thingy...you have to put the statement in the correct thread....do you expect me to make it easy??:)

Your entry in the jedi returns competition is valid. good luck.

Is there any point to this thread?

Possibly not, It could be used do demonstrate to Jedi the humour of his recurring theatrical storm outs. Were you here for the last one?...That was when his world conspiracy of Atheists bit the dust, to be replaced by the world conspiracy of commies on his return. I may be interested to see who the world conspiracy is going to be when he returns from this little storm out.... Possibly the world conspiracy of Mormons? maybe Canadians? muslims may be a good bet.....

Since coming here, I have realized what everyone meant in Star Wars when they said "I feel a disturbance in the Force". I still feel it, it ain't gone ;)

What's $1.00 AU...

'bout $0.60 US?

My bet:

May 9th at 10:04:38 a.m. Pacific time.

The reason to come back is because he would realise that his departure was interpreted as a victory for the leftists and feminazis.

:p

Yep, thats about right. Plus, I'll be deducting postage as well as Federal and State taxes from the prize pool. Do you think I'm a millionaire or something? :D

The last time JK left, then returned, he claimed that "the aethists asked me back".

This time I expect that he will claim something like people have been PMing him stating that they miss his genius and his political moderation.

In any event, he will be back soon enough. This sort of thing has happened so many times in the past, someone leaves in a huff, then returns as soon as they stop being mad.

Ugh!

Usually this sort of behaviour is not helped by people saying 'oh please don't leave' 'we appreciate what you say don't listen to the critics' etc etc. But hopefully Jedi has in fact found another board and was merely looking for an excuse for a dramatic exit.

The Competition has been declared over!

I was tempted to declare the competition closed on 17 May but Jedi's post stated "Just dropped in for a moment"

However, his post of 27 May stated "Threads like this one attacking my President is just asking for Jedi Knight to come back to the JREF forum"

So the winning Date is 27 May.

The contestants, on the whole, were rather poor. Nobody thought Jedi would have anywhere near the strength to stay away 22 Days. The closest was shuize's estimate of 7 Days! I am sorely tempted to withdraw the prize due to the very poor standard of entries.

Being (mostly) a man of my word, If shuize PMs me a postal address I will post off a new shiny Australian Dollar Coin. If I do not recieve details from shuize, I will not go to the next best entry. I will instead offer the magnificent Prize to JK due to the much stronger than anticipated willpower.

I am allowing 7 days for any appeals or legal action to commence. If nothing is heard after 7 days I will post the prize.

PS....Welcome back JK, Things have got way out of hand, communism is now rampant on this board. I am getting sick and tired of everyone singing the Internationale.

I am starting a faction to oust Hal. I should have the numbers soon. If anyone wants to join in the James Randi Education Forum and Revolutionary Peoples Tribunal, just sign up here.

As long as we don't have to sing the Damn Internationale all the time, plus I look silly in a Beret.....

Can I be Comrade Fool in charge of the re-education camps? I was thinking of making people endure decadent western imperial excesses until they are so sickened by the debauchery that they want to join the revolution.....

JK could not bear to be separated from JREF for more than 22 days.

Ugh!

Oh well, the quiet was nice while it lasted.

Fool,

It does not matter the content of the post, he came back on May 16, 2003, 06:36 PM.

That means that he stayed away for only 12 days, so the winner is still shuize.

It also doesn't matter if Jedi does not post again (although I hope he doesn't :D ) , the bet was just about when he would post again.

Fool, its nice to know that I'm not the only one who wants Jedi Knight to come back to the Forum.
